I've replaced them several times, its not fun. I noticed that there are basically two types of hose, the straight type which is in the bilge and the corrugated type which is usually the type connected directly to the exhaust manifold. You need to use the corrugated type at the exhaust manifolds, regardless what the factory used on your boat. You can't bend the straight type into place. The factory used both types, if you have the engine out and are dropping it in, no problem. If the engine is bolted in the boat you have to use the corrugated type so you can bend it a bit when installing without damaging it.
