Cracks in Seats
« on: February 09, 2005, 17:23:13 pm »
Fellas

My wife gave me the opportunity to fix the cracks in my back seats on my Toyota for Christmas.  I am just wondering what you guys have done to fix these problems?  Did you replace all the  coverings on the seat or did you try to seam up the cracks?  Please let me know as I am looking to get this done before warmer weather comes.  Thanks

It is a 2000 X-22.  The seats in the back are cracked a little along the seams.  My cousin is a Dr. Vinyl dealer, where he goes to car dealers and fixes dashes, seats, scratches, and stuff like that.  He can fix the cracks, but he is not guarenteeing it will last being it is on the seam of the seat.  He also knows a guy that will replace the seat covers.  But I just wanted to see what everyone else has done if they have had the same problem.

Hey Mvermeer, if you do some searches, you will find a lot of people that had the ripped seams problem. Mine was one of them. Fortunately, my boat was still under warranty and all were replaced by Dorge.  If your boat is one of the few still on warranty, might want to look into it... if you do get them rebuilt, have them put heavier-duty foam in there to make the seats not as plush.

Oh, and enforce a "don't step on the back seat" policy.  It helps.
