Kind of oil and frequency of change?
« on: April 14, 2005, 19:12:48 pm »
I am going to get out and finish unwinterizing my boat this weekend.  I did not change the oil last fall, so I was thinking I should do it this Spring.  I talked with the guy that I bought the boat from and he said he changed the oil and filter 40 hours before I bought it.  I probably put another hour or two on it after I bought it and then winterized it.  I am wondering if I do need to change the oil or if I can wait til later?  If I can wait until later, how many hours can I put on it before I should change it?

When I do get to the point of having to change it, what kind of oil and filter would you all recommend?  My boat is a 2000 Epic X22 for those of you that do not know.  Thanks

5w 30 synthetic, Mobil 1 oil and filter for a 2000 Lexus 400 auto.

I change mine once a season, the interval is 200 hours between oil changes. OR 1/4 the maintenance of an antiquated pushrod Chevy or Ford in any other boat.
