fitting wedges??
« on: April 05, 2005, 03:38:27 am »
I've been doing a bit of reading about some diferent typs of boats and have seen that many have a wedge that you can pullup so you can ski behind the boat, and put it down to create a wake. Now what i'm thinking is can you buy a wedge and attach it to a boat to create a bigger wake or do all inboards have wedges. Would it be a hard or easy task, expensive or inexpensive.

The Wedge is a Malibu-only option, so won't work on a Toyota.  I still haven't decided what I think about it -- seen enough pictures of transom's ripped off from hitting things (boat sinks immediately) that it scares me a bit.  That being said, if I had a Malibu, I'd probably have the Wedge installed anyway.

I've seen numerous pictures of Maliboos with 2 foot square holes in the transom after the wedge hits a submerged object. Any wakeboarding related device that can cause catastrophic hull failure and sinking is a bad idea in my book. I'll stick with sacks, thank you very much!!
