Wondering if anyone has used the synthetic oil Royal Purple in their boat?  I am going to switch over to synthetic this year...  Any comments/opinions about this stuff?

Thanks

Never heard of Royal Purple so I can not comment. But I do know a site where they have tested Mobil 1 & AmsOil

I have Royal Purple products in the Trans and the Rear Diff of the GTO.  Love them, made a huge difference in the Manual Trans.

Some of the guys on the GTO forum use RP for everything they can.  It seems they are the guys at the drag strip every weekend or have well modified cars.

I just run Mobil 1 in the engine in the car and the boat.  RP oil is more made for racing applications and is much more $$.  It surely won't hurt anything but for the price I think I would stick with the more conventional synthetics like Syntec and M1.

I started a similar thread a while back:

I run Amsoil all around, except in my Scarab (for now).  My TrailBlazer gets 0W-30 oil and an Amsoil filter along with Severe Gear 75W-90 gear oil for the front and rear diffs.  Had the Synthetic ATF too, but had to have some trans work done so its mostly regular ATF now.

My Epic 22 got some Amsoil 5W-30 at the end of summer 05, didnt change the oil last year (I know, I know.  I didnt have any Amsoil at home and by the time I figured it out it was too late to order it) so she will be getting some 0W-30 and probably the remaining synethetic ATF for the trans.  That along with the oil pressure sender are the first things Im going to do when she comes out of storage.
