We've got great boats!
« on: June 07, 2005, 03:33:53 am »
After a long winter, it's great to have the Epic back on the water!  These boats are truly a blast!  Saw a burgundy Epic 22 from a distance on Pewaukee Lake, also spotted an Epic 21, as well.

We've got great boats!

Preachin to the choir, man ;-)

Happy for you for getting her out, though!!!

Anybody in NorCal or north-er than that...we're gonna be camping at Whiskeytown between July 21 and 28. Cal, or any others, if you're near the Shasta my Assta area, send a shout. We'll definitely go check out Shasta and hopefully Trinity while we're up there. I'm so looking forward to 10 getting out of the city, 2) camping, and 3) spending some quality time at the helm.

I was at the lake last night with my S22 and my friend's brand new Tige 22V Riders.  I hadn't wakeboarded behind a Tige before, so it was my first time. Very different wake from mine, but my story isn't about his wake.  After my set, I climbed into the boat, we compared our boats, bs, blah blah blah.  He offered me a chance to drive his new Tige, and of course, I was all for it.  The instant I enganged the v-drive, I knew we had both forgotten about the rope.  So, of course, I am shopping for a new handle and rope today.  It was so entangled in his prop and drive shaft that we had to tow his Tige into the marina with my S22.  It was photo-worthy.  Headlines to read "Tige rescued from certain despair by loyal and true S22."
I have a boarding protocol on my boat, so I don't have to worry about the rope, but I spaced it on his boat.  It is a very nice boat, I'm sure it is nice to drive, but I won't have that opportunity for a few more days/weeks.  So I'm not bagging on his boat, I like it a lot, just hadn't expected to rescue it with mine.

Perhaps if you had a nut and a post, you wouldn't get into this type of trouble.

I'll add this to the Epic Love Fest:

Got together with Father Pete this weekend on the lake and had a great time. We met and drooled over each other's boats. It was pretty cool to drive behind another Epic. I felt like a fighter pilot and I was Pete's wingman as we navigated huge open water waves... Ok, ok...

I boarded behind Pete's boat and felt right at home, even though the water was dog choppy. NIce big wave with about 1K of ballast "i think". I think I even got the front end of the board out of the water once...maybe...

Anyway, Pete, post some of those pics you took...

A little late, but since we're on another of our Epic love fests...

Terry (highflyin) and I headed up to Lake Pateros in North central Washington for Memorial Weekend with a group of what was supposed to be 26 people. It turned into 36 people pretty quickly.  It was a blast... though I'm never organizing a wakeboarding trip for that many people again -- I got about three runs in the whole weekend.

And where was everybody else??  We were practically the only ones there.  I love Pateros.

Pics...

And an individual who will remain nameless...? You can imagine the shot I got a couple minutes after this one -- not internet-appropriate.? ;)

Cal, you're as white as me. Nice. Dude, your tower is loaded for bear there!

Mr. Webmaster & Mr. Psyclone....car to comment on eachother's boats? Any other Epicmariners out there have a decent amount of time behind both deee and veee-drive Epics?

You know, I've got like four hours YTD, and have made a total of $1750 in payments and used about $250 in insurance and God knows how much LUXURY tax (F-Cali in that regard). I know I'm supposed to be feeling like "dude, this was such a waste of money, I so should have bought a conoe or a quad or something instead of a boat that's sitting on the side of the house."

Guess what? I'm bummed about not getting her out, but my view regarding the Epic is truly long-term. This is a slow year, but my main concern is just trying to keep this piece of history intact. What worries me far more than 'wasting' money on the thing is the fact that it's outside and outside boats aren't happy boats.

She's gonna be around a long time, and hopefully we'll be the ones holding the drain plug.

You know your a vetran bozzer when you can pass out and not spill your soda. Cal, I can't belive you didn't post the video of my S Bend to back side shuv-it ;). How's the weekend of June 25 look for you??? I think I could get it off. If so I would like to spend it hanging out at a motor inn (hint hint). Cal's not kidding when he says there were too many people there. At one point I had so much weight in the boat it would not get on plane till I had four people in the bow (14 or 15 total with the sacks full because there such a buger to drain) I got a couple runs in with stock 700 + 900 in sacks + 8 people (about 1100lbs) = about 2700 lbs. It took about half a beer to get on plan, but the wake was well worth the weight  ;D. No, it was more like a SWELL. Anyhoo, I would like to give props to Cal for a memorable weekend. Not to mention all the boatless folks who ponied up enough money for Cal and I to break even on gas money not only for the boats, but also the extra fuel the trucks used to get thoes sweet ass boarding machines over there. Cal,  I would LOVE to see the next couple pic's in that series.

Hey Terry, I've got weddings that weekend.  But the weddings are on Rimrock Lake near White Pass (we're actually going to drive the boat to the wedding and park on the dock at this mini-yacht club).  Brea and I actually were up there camping a couple weekends ago and seems like we might be able to find some good water for wakeboarding up there.  You in?
