Water in the hull seems to have been the problem.  I wasn't running the bilge pump often enough and as a result, the engine was having problems and acceleration was very sluggish.  We were having these problems after about an hour and a half of riding, twice today.  Thought it might be the "knock protection" mode and unplugged the battery unsucessfully.

Brought the boat into the dealership and to my embarrassment there was way too much water in the engine compartment.  For the rest of the day, I ran the bilge to remove excess water at least every half hour on the water and didn't have any problems! (another 6 hours of tubing, skiing and wakeboarding- we were hosting a fraternity rush function this weekend and had 30-40 guys staying at the house).

NCARROLL---You might want to check your prop shaft seal. My dealer told me it shuld leak one drop every 3 or 4 seconds. Mine was more like a steady flow. All I had to do was pull the cotter pin and tighten the nylon nut untill the flow was a drip, then I reinstalled the cotter pin. It took all of five minutes. Good luck

Thanks, Happ-

I'll check the prop shaft seal.  My hunch is that we were just taking a few too many waves over the front of the bow.  The boat was fully loaded with 2 college guys in the front on a choppy lake and I'm still learning the correct way to come back through my own wake after dropping a skier/tuber/boarder...

When you pick up a down rider.  First just stop straight and wait and look back that the rider is OK.  That does 3 things: 1. rider ok 2. see that no other boat will run him over 3. allows your own rollers to go by.  Assuming everything is ok turn slowly and cruise slowly over to your rider.  No extra rough water and no water in your boat.  The extra bonus is that other boarders will love you.  BTW the first thing I do is turn on the bilge and leave it on.
