wakeboard questions

so I bought a new board last weekend, rode it, and like my old one better.? I think here's why---
I have been riding a 2004 140 CWB Absolute.? It took some time to get used to, but I have grown to love it.? It is stable when I want it to be, but you can switch with little effort.?
The new board is a 2005 CWB 141 ABsolute.? I rode it three times last weekend, it tracks well, but you have to put a lot more effort into switching.?
So I put both boards on my table at home to check out the real differences-- same width, same rocker, different channels on the bottom, and different fin.
Am I right to assume to following.? The rocker and the board width contribute to pop when jumping or throwing an ollie.? The channel/fin pattern on the bottom control board stability.? The new board has integrated fins that are longer front to back than my old board, so that would make cents ( ) with the tracking/switching difference.? SO what I did is this- I took the slightly taller fin from the new board and screwed it onto the old one, and put the old fin on the new board.  Get it?  This should make tracking a little better, but still let me slide like I like to. 
ANyone have a few more cents?

I'd give a teste for either one of them. One of these days I'll get a pic of my welfare board so you'll have something to laugh at besides self-electrocution. Always amazed when I ride others' boards to see how easy they are to pop, how confident they feel during landing and how soft they feel. Mine's an old & cheap LF with continuous rocker, single deep skegs and a barely-a-channel channel. Oh yeah, it's too small, too.

Think if there's a difference in depth of the fins, that'd be the biggest contributor to tightness. Just remember, the deeper it rides, the tighter it feels. You can ride most of the new boards finless, too. Tried that?

That may be a good Idea. Take the fins off, ride em and see if there is a difference. If not, keep the old and sell oft the new, for a tidy profit of course.

Bitzy and I ran into a summer-end sale at Marine Products in SLC last weekend.  I bought that '05 Absolute 141 for $280, I think the msrp is $480. I sold it already to my neighbor.

Apparently nobody cares, but adding the slightly taller center fin to the the older Absolute was like supercharging it.  It cuts super smooth and accelerates much better.

Seriously, I like the fact that the board doesn't have that sluggish feel that most aggressive 3 stage boards have.

I ride an ancient continuous rocker LF board that takes some effort to pop. My buddy got a new Parks DNA. That thing is just crazy - I have to throttle back my edge so much to keep from escaping earth's gravity. No like that thing.

Anyhoo, his friend brought an LF Trip with three fins to Havasu this weekend and we all rode that thing. I still prefer mine becuase it's mine and I know it, but the Trip is very much like it except mine only has a single deep center fin. Anyhoo, Todd was riding so much better this trip and a lot of it was switching to a board that was a little quicker, a lot more predictable and a little more tame.

Really wish I could get Cal down here to help me get my shizz together.

Ps. landed another HS BR this weekend along with lots 'o big HS and TS hits with indy, nose and method grabs, some really slow and big TS FS 180s, TS FS half cab one w2w. Good water makes a pretty big difference!

Soon, soon...? (I know, another summer's almost past).

The Parks sucks.? Has tons of pop, but you have to change your riding style to ride the board.? I had one, sold it.? Made highflyin get rid of his too.? Derek, if you want a good board for Todd and don't want to spend a lot of cash, find an 02-03 Hyperlite Byerly.? I'm convinced that shape is the best wakeboard to date.? It doesn't have any compromises...except it's a touch slow on the water.? Very good pop, soft landings, very consistent ride.? I've been waiting for one to go for cheap on Ebay for a while now with no luck.? I used to have one...only board I've sold and regretted later.?

I'm a huge fan of Double Up wakeboards and the old LF Ultra bindings ('03 was the best year, picked some up on ebay for $90).? I'm on the Nelson 138 Pro right now.? Would love throw a CWB Absolute into the arsenal, as soon as I can justify it...

My ridings gone to crap this year because I keep messing up my ribs.  My arsenal has been reduced to tantrums this year (am I getting old??), and I'm about to give up on the season.
