My speedos clog all the time.We have a lot of moss in our lake though.I carry a straight pin in the boat for when I'm on the lake.I've just learned to deal with it.I don't know if Rick Cohn @ toyota would have any remedy for it or not.Try shooting him an email.Let us know if he has any advice.

If your speedo's keep getting clogged get a hand held gps and velcro it to the dash.  They are waterproof and cost $100.  They work great.  I don't use my speedos anymore.

David is totally right, but there is a speedo article coming with extensive pics to show everyone why Toyota speed measurement sucks. Look for it soon!

Anyone know where you can get the black plastic pitot tubes for the speedos?  I have one broken, and want to have one ready to go when I take the boat out of the water (I'm assuming you have to seal the screw holes with silicone or it will leak (?).  Thanks.

Go to accuski.com.  Under accessories.  They have the venturi pick-ups for $19.99

There are two types of speedo pickups, see the how to page. RE-pete, your boat probably has the old style. The new ones can be used but the MDDC needs to be reprogrammed. Accuski can do it and turn it around in a couple of days. The new style are supposedly not as susceptible to clogging.
I used JB Weld epoxy to fix my expansion tube, after blowing out the hoses and cleaning both venturis, I have not had a failed speedo in 2 mos.

The GPS idea is a good one. Now we just need to tie it into Accuski!

I do have the old style--same as the one on your boat in the 'How To' section.  I called Atlanta Marine and they are going to look get me the part next week.  Spoke with Tony--nice guy.  He said you knows you, Pete.

Tony is a good mechanic, and has worked on lots of Toyotas. He hooks me up with all kinds of info on the boats. I don't think he spends much time on the internet, or I would get him more directly involved with this forum.

Once you get the new pickups and the upgrades if they still clog just stop and back up for a short time. I ride on lake Austin lots of moss and my speedo clears if I do this.

I also have a pair of swim goggles and a large safety pin, I send my kids down to clean the nozzles.
