Perfect Pass locations
« on: October 18, 2006, 08:26:36 am »
I am fitting perfect pass tonight and was wondering on the Sx where i should put the hole through the hull. I had a good look at it yesterday and was thinking somewhere around the water intake pump under the gear box. I was going to position it on the opposite side to the water pump to avoid turbulence. If you guys could let me know that would be great. The other thing i was wondering is what type of ballast system i have as there seem to be two types for the Sx one with solenoids. If you take up the floor boards in front of the fuel tank there are three pumps and two blue thing with electrical cable running into them. Can anyone tell me what they are and reason for them. I have two number vent on the starboard side in front of the driver and only one on the port side. I am assuming these are to do with the ballast system.
Any help would be much appreciated as we are trying to get her in the water for next weekend.
Thanks
Rob

Rob:

On the ballast system, yes, you have three Rule pumps and two solenoids.  As mentioned in other threads, the ballast is filled with the through-hull intake as you press the fill button.  Once the ballast is full, the water will vent out the starboard and port vents.  The extra vent on the starboard side is your bilge pump vent.

When you drain the ballast, it will drain out the same through-hull intake.  When you want to adjust the ballast to redistribute the weight, press and hold the starboard or port buttons to drain water for balancing the weight.

Good luck on your maiden voyage.

I located mine in front of the engine on the port side - see attached pic.  Mine ended up a little tight to the fuel tank enclosure so I would move it aft an inch.

Good luck!

I mounted mine in the same spot and have no complaints.  It's real easy to get to as well.  I chose to drill a small pilot hole from the inside, so I got the exact spot I wanted (2nd pic).  Worked like a champ.  Here are some pictures.  I also found that I had a great deal of space between the two layers and none of the green filler that others have had.

Hole made last night and damage done. I was wiring up the ignition and tachometer and cant find which wire to connect the grey wire to on the tachometer. Rang perfect pass but they werent up to speed on the layout under the dash. I can find a grey wire coming from the rpm gauge they said it should be somewhere under the dash heading into a black box. Anyone got pics or can explain were to look as stumped on this.

Digital Instrument Installation Guide (PDF)

This is in the Maintenance section of the web site under Manuals. See pages 7-14.

Cheers for that. I should be able to locate the wire now and make the connection.
