prop install,
« on: May 10, 2007, 00:36:19 am »
last fall I took off my crummy 4 blade Cutter prop for repairs and recently decided to get a 515 Acme.  It's been so long since it took off the old one, is it possible for me to put on the new propeller wrong?  I remember removing a key as well as a little piece of wadding underneath everything.  Any pointers would be helpful.  It's good to be back on the forum and in the water as soon as the prop goes on!

Back off the prop nut, but don't remove it. Prop will POP back - nut keeps it on the shaft.

Use a prop puller to load up and then tap the back side with a mallet.

Apply a little lube to the shaft when you replace it.

Torque it if at all possible. Think the ft/lbs are in the boat manual.
