I agree with you about the wakeworld vibe, too. Most of the time I feel like I'm the one who shuts threads down there. Whatever. Part of me thinks that they really don't need to know or care to know about EOS, since it's an Epic thing (not that Epic, the old Epic.)

You're the man, Cal. Good writer, thinker. Little skinny to be such a priXXXXX.   JUST KIDDING. You're not that skinny ;-)

When are you coming down, dude? Mid-winter when you're really jonesing for some 60-degree water?

Hi All,
All the EOS boats or anything like a Epic are Pop-out Boats. Maritec
didn't aquire or save any molds. And if they did yoda would cut them
down in a NY minute. I trust the source of the confirmation. Too
much liablity for Toyota to sell or keep molds. You guys know how a mega corp runs.

Nice, I would have bought it, but it comes with a 10' dinghy. I've already got a 10 inch dinghy and don't know what I'd do with a 10 foot one. Still, that would look sweet parked next to the trailer.

I am not real computer literate but working on improving so the address might need to be tweaked.

Love this web sight keep up the great work

I am late to this topic guys.

Its actually pretty easy and 'fairly' cheap to reverse engineer hulls like this.
I actually have done this sort of work with Tracker marine several times before.

They have old hulls and molds that they have no designs for.  We just take the stickers off and use a laser scanner to scan the hull into a surface model in CAD. No need to strip the gell coat or anything.  YOu would however have to remove the interior (carpet, seats, etc) to scan the deck.

Holes and the like can easily be filled in using design tools.
Its actually not a bad method of doing this sort of reverse engineering.
To make a long story longer they probably reversed engineered it this way.  (by far the cheapest and fastest way to do it)  They probably didn't have to spilt that hull or anything.  UNLESS they wanted to see how the plys are laid or anything like that.  But that would have most likely destroyed the boat.

My 3 cents

Kirk, that's friggin awesome. I never thought that would be possible and would take the place of "pulling a mold" off of something. Sweet. Now I've got to add a laser scanner to the CNC mill on my wish list.

Actually, the Vessel Hull Design act was added to a couple of laws.  The designer has to register it.
If the hull was introduced to the public (displayed) before October 1998, it can't be protected.  If it was not registered, it is not protected.  So, it would have been perfectly legal to copy that hull.
I am not saying it was right, and I would have done some changes too (narrow the bottom of the hull, towards the back so you don't need so much ballast for example).  But seems like it is out of production anyway....

Wow, an EOS / Epic boat for sale on ebay!  I think they even used an old epic trailer!  Deja Vu!  Who would buy this?

Wow, what a peos of sheot. I copied all fifty pix besides the ones of the tower. Look at the Vdrive pic, it looks like it's 30 yrs old. The engine is shoehorned in there, they had to relieve the bottom side of the hatch cover to fit it. It's rubbing up against the Home Depot U-bolt holding the ski pylon!

I notice that they couldn't shape the trunk lid to fit the hull, so it hangs off the back!!

I like how they threw the heater in the storage compartment that they decided wasn't a step!

The ballast control panel is a hoot. Looks like something off Pimp My Ride.

Wow, that thing looks nice from a distance, then you look at it and everything is shoved in there all wrong.  That motor doesnt belong, waaay too big, plus the heater, the fit and finish of everything is just horrible.  Wouldnt pay that much for that boat, its a straight up copy of the SX.  With 1/10th the quality, maybe.

Finally an EOS boat.  I have been searching for pics of the back of this boat ever since one was for sale on boats.com a couple of years ago.  If you look at the back it has a Bennett Trim tab.  I know all of us V-Drive owners have thought about making this upgrade to help with the porpoising of the boat.  I wonder if it has any significant impact on the wakeboard wake and if it would help to keep the rear up for surfing so we don't have to modify our swim decks.

It also has the three piece sun deck that I would prefer over the single that our boats have.  Although I would implement that a little differently it gives me a few more bits of info on how to convert.
