I gave up trying to drive it all the way up on the trailer in season I. It's just too hard on the trailer, boat, tow vehicle, sanity, etc...I never had the issue of the bow ring hitting it thouh (s22). I'll put the trailer wheel wells about 1 inch submerged and run the boat up till it's just a few inches from the boat buddy. then hand crank. up...

Alot of it depends on the angle of the ramp.  Steep verse Shallow is a huge difference.   Thank God, I've never eaten a prop but I've heard about it.  Get the trailer to far back on a steep ramp the back is liable to drift off the bunkers and by the time you pull off the ramp your boat might be sitting on the fender.  Sadly I've done this...  I prefer shallow ramps and drive the boat up.  Getting the boat on and off the trailer is the worst part of the day for me.  I try the hand crank method but it always seems harder on the boat and winch.

My Epic Update:

A picture of the new trailer, my best friend, and the 4runner...

I dropped the boat off in Nashville last Monday to get an new interior,  have the black rub rail installed, and buffed/waxed.   I took out the Fire and Ice (white, red, burgundy) color scheme and went with a white, grey, and dark grey scheme.   All the decals are coming off and being replaced with factory "Epic X22" decals, I don't know if the rest of the decals will make there way back on the boat or if I'll do something custom-ish.  Last thing on the list is taking off the tower, getting it sandblasted, and painted - Guess I'll do that next summer.  Finally, I am still thinking about tinting the windows.

That boatmate makes your X look brand new... and the new interior and decals will most definitely cap it off.  Congratulations on taking the plunge!

not too sure about the oil bath bearings.  my buddy has them on his Supra's trailer and the spindle just broke.  He is going back to grease..  I just put new bearings, wheels and tires on my trailer.  nothing fancy but they are aluminum and were only $159 per wheel with the tire already mounted on them.  It sure pulls nice now.  the old ones were horrible and about to go at any minute, now I can do a road trip!

Where did you find that deal? I am in the market for tires and wheels for mine.

Johnny,
Check this place out. If you are replacing everything, you might consider going to 15's.
