Teak or Fiberglass swimstep?
« on: August 06, 2009, 01:12:42 am »
Well, I am on my second year of ownership of my 99' Epic 21. I love the boat, it is everything I had hoped for while searching for years. My question to you other Epic owners is about the swimstep. My Teak one looks great, functions fine, but I just keep thinking I would rather have the fiberglass step for ease of maintanence.  My last boat was a Supra with a fiberglass step and I never had any problems or concerns with it. I have not seen the Toyota glass one in person. Is it a nice piece? Sturdy, durable, good pad etc? Is one more popular than the other. I would like to find someone local to trade me if possible.  I did email one local guy that was selling his Epic. I figured since he was selling anyway he probably wouldn't care. He just said he wasn't interested! Anyway, thanks for your opinions/advice!...Ty

FYI.  The Epic 21 never had a fiberglass swim platform made...

Hmmm, does that mean they are a different shape? Wouldn't fit? Thanks for the info Capt.

I'll bet you could make a fiberglass platform off another epic work fairly easily. I can give you dimensions if you like for a vdrive platform

Thanks for the input Cyclone. At this point I just don't have the time to do any modifying really. I may in the future (winter project maybe). I guess that is what I was wondering, are the shapes of the transom's the same between the 2 boats? Has anyone ever tried installing one from a X-22 or S-22 onto an Epic 21? Thanks for any more input!
