I'm glad Georgia is not a police state. I was in Maine recently, it is a Peoples Republic.

On the strut issue, you can call Atlanta Marine for parts, ask for Tony. The number is on the How_To page.

I agree with Phenom, these boats are great.  Weighted down right, these boats throw very nice wakes and the chicks do dig em! that's a fact..  If you can't throw down behind an epic, you just can't throw down! it's not the boat's fault..  they are a little under powered stock but with my new 13 x 11.5 3 blade prop and around 2000 lbs, it has plenty of power and a large wake that is shaped just right.    Put any pro rider behind my SX and they will not be limited in any way.

Hey guys, Ive never been disappointed with my factory 3 blade, but rereading this thread makes me hope there's more.  I love love love my E22, but the hole shot can be crappy especially if I nail the throttle coming off idle (feels like it just cavitates forever then finally takes off).  I find myself having to ease into the throttle until about 2K rpms then I can hit it.

So, these Acme props...I want to keep a 3 blade and my top end as much as possible.  If I loose a few mph up top I can live, but I cant go from like 48 to 40, my Epic cant be 20mph slower than my Scarab! hahaha.  I want more holeshot and would love the best economy with todays insane gas prices, whats my prop?  I cant tell if you guys are running the 13x13 or 13x11.5 cnc'ed 3-blades.  Are they pretty easy to install?

Thanks everyone, Im still a noob when it comes to my Epic but I can learn quickly!

All you need is a prop puller and you are in business. Hold off for a couple of weeks and I will have the results of prop testing for Acme. I have already documented 3 Acme props and will have a 4th in 1 1/2 weeks. Is you prop RH or LH? What do you use the boat for? 3 event or boarding? It all matters to match the prop to what you do with the boat.

Since you have a 1999 Epic 22 you probably have a 1" shaft and a RH prop. You will need to double check.

Its a LH prop, had Ski Masters here in Seattle change it so reverse pulls right not left (so that means a LH rotation I think...).

Mostly we use it for running around and slalom, maybe some wakeboarding and Im going to learn to barefoot this summer.

Hey sailtl , any update on this?  Boats are still sitting high and dry on the trailers as Lake Coeur d' Alene is about 4 ft above summer level (just dropped below flood stage last weekend).  If I do a prop I want to put it on before I put the boat in otherwise it'll prob be until fall.

Wow! That is a great write up. Thank you for sharing your findings on these props. I am picking up a boat that looks like it may be identical to yours in the next few weeks. I have been wondering about the slalom pull up with the stock prop. I have not skied behind a Toyota yet. I am used to our Supra pulling me up pretty quick. Do you have an opinion on the best place (price) to buy the Acme props? That may be one of the first things I do to the boat.
Thanks again for all the info...Ty

I would call Acme direct because if you do not like the prop you can return it. I did a lot of foot work for them and it should be helpful for others to get the right prop the first time for their direct drive Epic.

ScarabEpic22 - how did SkiMasters change rotation on your boat?

No idea, kinda wish I knew now though.  But it definitely pulls to the right when backing up to that to me means a LH rotation.  I wonder if they just changed the cable direction on the trans or the throttle, so essentially Im running in "reverse" to go forward and "forward" to go in reverse.  Ill poke my head around next time I throw the engine cover up.

And saitl, thanks for the reviews.  I skiied behind my Epic 22 on friday night and got up perfectly both times (first pull of the season I get a free fall, come on guys :D) but its definitely not as strong as our friends MC with the 5.7L LT1 and a 4 blade.  Do you think the 540 is the best all around prop, if I burn a little more gas thats ok by me, I want more holeshot and less cavitation.

So, Acme 540 or 524 for all around prop that has good holeshot (better than the stock OJ), decent economy, and gets close to retaining the top speed?
