S22 Ballast install
« on: October 21, 2015, 08:00:15 am »
First off, I can't say enough about the guys at Wake Makers. They are super helpful and easy to talk to when designing your system and have a great website.

I can't get pics to work, so you'll have to check them out here on my dropbox.

You can see in the pics:
-My overall design schematic
-Parts list
-Where I drilled my thru-hulls
-How I ran the wire to the pump that just sits on the carpet under the little quarter seat opposite the battery.

-Watch youtube videos before drilling thru-halls and remember to take the edges off (I used a dremel) and used 3m 4000 marine adhesive

As per the design schematic:

-FILLING my pump draws water in and fills the bag from its "fill/drain" on the bottom, when the bag is full water flows out the "overflow/air release" located on the top of the bag heads down the hose and out the "drain/vent thru-hall" just above the rub rail (this makes it easy to know when its full without opening the hatch). "valve #2 stops water from creating a loop through the pump and bag

-DRAINING the pump runs backwards and water is stopped by "valve #1"  so it flows through "valve #2" up and out the "drain/vent thru-hall". "valve #3" stops water from creating that loop again through the bag and pump

I chose this design because it was the simplest and quick filling, I'm happy with how it works so I'm planning on twinning the system for another 900lb bag in the drivers side locker and adding those new ronix wedge things now that I should be able to surf with an evenly weighted boat and just use my cigarette lighter pump to fill the bow bag. My pics don't show the toggle switch that controls the pump, I fished the wires up to the boats controls and wired the switch but haven't mounted it in the dash yet.

Nice work. Which pump did you use?

ill take a video of my install and upload it next time I'm near the boat
