Starting for first time in 5 years
« on: April 27, 2025, 22:25:03 pm »
Hi all,
I've had a very busy 5 years and haven't had the chance to use my low hours boat. I'm getting ready to fire her up this season but want to make sure I do so in a way that won't harm the engine. I'm planning to drain gas, do a full service (oil, impellor, fuel filter, etc.), and get someone to do swap out the timing belt. Any tips or recommendations when I go to start her? I had put in Tundra spark plugs last time I used her, so I think I should be okay on those. I also plan to leave her on the lake this summer. I plan to re-pack the shaft. Anything else I should do before leaving her in the water all summer?

first put the boat in the water leave it on trailer. Start and run it. Then if it is ok take it out for 30 minutes staying close to the trailer. Next go and do what is needed.

You never said where and what boat it is.

Thanks. This is helpful. The boat is a 2021 SX. Boat is in Fresno, CA. If anyone knows of any good mechanics nearby, please let me know.
