Engine Idle Speed
« on: June 21, 2005, 14:53:48 pm »
My ?99 Epic seems to idle very radically. Another word, once I back off on the throttle it never really holds a steady RPM. It bounces around 500 to 700 RPM?s while it seats idle. Is this normal? I?ve just put new plugs and have regularly changed the fuel filter.

I had a problem like that, it was my throttle cable that was routed wrong after I had it worked on. It was routed wrong on top of the engine and would kind of hang up. Take a look at yours and make sure it follows the most direct logical route to the throttle actuator.

Normal cold water temp operation will allow RPM to change +/- 200 rpm under 1000 rpm.

Thanks for the info Rick and I'll check the routing of the throttle cable this weekend Cyclone.

If I wanted to adjust the idle up. let's say 100 rpm's how is this done?

Per Rick Cohn at Toyota Marine 500-750 at idle warmed up is acceptable. It will search because of water temperature per Rick. Do not exceed 800 rpm at idle.
