Electrical problem
« on: September 21, 2005, 20:40:05 pm »
So im finished draining the sac in the bow and unplug the pump from the 12v port. I hook the pump up to the sac in the trunk and plug it into the 12v port and nothin!!!. I checked all the breakers in the boat (I think) that I know of. Checked the fuse in the Rule pump. Everything checks out, but now have no power to anything in the boat. Would someone please tell me im retarded and just missed the obvious.

Happened to me once when I put too much load on the lighter plug. I got under the dash to where the breaker board is, looked at the little buttons to find which one was tripped, pushed the little button in, and voila, everything back to normal.

I had everything go dead about 3 years ago, but hadn't been using any accessories. Turned out there was a small electrical plug (gray, I think) under the steering wheel that connected one harness to another and it had vibrated loose. Pushed it back together and everything was back to normal.

 ??? ??? ???
Checked connections under the dash and all was good. Found two inline fuses, one under the dash and one in the battery box, both are good.double and triple checked the circut breakers and they are all good. What the F@%& is going on here!!! I know the battery did not go dead because one second I had power and the next i didn't.

Unless someone else recommends some usual suspects, you may have to get a multimeter and start at the battery and trace your way through the systems...?

Hey Terry, I think we may have met on Lk wash a couple of months back? I just remembered I met this guy with an SX who told me about this great website. I'm even more convinced it could have been you because there was a Yellow Lab running around on the boat. That lab wasn't wearing goggles though....

Terry,
Check the 20 amp inline fuse that should be in the red and black wire coming off  your battery switch. It is the dash supply.

VOTE FOR PETE HE'S GOT BOAT FIXIN SKILLS
That little fuse blew so hard it broke the glass. Thanks Pete I don't think I would have noticed noticed that one because  the way it was wrapped up.

Brit,
Up in Kenmoore right? The dog only wears the goggles when he's snowboarding. They always fall off while he's wakeboarding. See ya on the lake.

Does ANYBODY know where to get replacement circuit breakers for the dash?
Thanks,
Steve

Use the dealer list and call around and see. You should be able to get the part number from the parts database. try searching for "breaker" or "circuit". Since i'm in atl, i'd call atl. marine if it were me. Authorized dealers are still able to get parts.

As a new 2001 Epic SX owner I've read many of the threads and concluded that it might be prudent to carry a few spare fuses onboard.  I may never need them - but if I do, they're small and easily replaced.  The only fuse I've been able to locate is the one right off of the battery.  Does anyone know if there are more hidden around?

There are 2 inlines fuses hidden in a black wire for the Ballast pumps. To find it they are within 8 " from the big circuit board ---under the dash ---

I took my boat out his weekend. I want to rewire the Digital dash to be on all the time,  so it does not reset or have to be reset when the key is turned off. Stay tuned for instuctions...
Also my trailer only has 500 miles on it but a 1 valve stem was cracked and lost air. So my recommendation is to check you valve stem for drying out and cracking.

Rick, that would be cool. It is definatley unnecesary wear on the dash to have to recycle after every pull.

I replaced my stems with chrome stems (not just chrome caps, but the whole stem. ) last year on my 2000 trailer after mine rotted and blew out on the way to the lake. It sat all winter and I only had to put 3lbs of pressure in one of them.

A little off the electrical subject, but I am told ALL aluminum wheels leak around the rim, some just more than others.  From experience, I can verify that.
Water temp in lower Michigan was 58 yesterday.  Summer is coming, a little slow for my tastes.
