So long summer!
« on: October 07, 2005, 02:46:00 am »
Last Night: 83 degrees
Tonight: 39 degrees

Hmm.... mother nature is sending my least favorite message of the year.  It was a great summer.  Got the boat out last night for one last run.  Looking forward to '06!

Yeah, winter sucks. Hit the lake for probably the last time yesterday. Perfect glass, nobody but fishermen out there and one heck of a good time. The only problem was the 58 degree water. We tried the tube in front of the wakeboard deal that you see the pro photographers doing. Pretty weird at first to have that tube skating along 15 feet in front of you while you are jumping, but it worked out nicely. Made the middle of the wake kinda rough but it also made the wake big. The ballast was empty and the wake was about as big as when it is full. If I'm totally lucky, I'll get to go once more but I doubt it. Took the boat in to get detailed and will probably winterize at the end of next week. If I had a heated garage, I'd hold out for a Lake Mead trip in early Nov, but I don't and I don't want to take the chance of freezing. Oh, well, there is always next year.

Being from Michigan, you'd think I like cold weather.  Actually, I abhor fall, detest winter, don't much care for spring - I live for the (three) summer months.  I was surprised to see the water temp yesterday was still 68 degrees so I suited up in my long underwear (wetsuit) and went skiing for probably the last time this year.  I was sorta surprised that my head got cold in the 32 mph breeze but still had a great time showing that at least one person is still on the lake this late.  The boss said I have to put 'er up before we move back to the house for the winter instead of waiting until the last moment as I usually try.

Come on Summer!!

No need to post my pro photos. They look exactly like Blindside's. Yeah, right.

Where exactly in ID are you h20proof?  In another thread, you asked me why I wasnt still skiing, and I said I live in Seattle, but you never said where you live?  I know it is probably one of the smaller towns near CDA, but which one?

Blindside - goofy toeside, represent!

Here in SoCal, water temp is below 80. But that's okay because air temp is above 80. Actually had to wear a t-shirt a couple times yesterday to keep the nipplage under control.

Sandpoint huh?  I ski at Schweitzer at least once a year, but have never boated on Pend Oreille.

I like Schweitzer.  Good mountain/terrain, not the best snow.
You should try Pend Oreille (Pond-er-ray).  It's a huge lake so it's easy to avoid other boaters.  However, big lakes can have big waves too..... but you can just retreat to one of the many bays and it smooths out.  Oh yeah, it's cold too.  Best time to ride is in the fall.  The water is glass.  Step into a suit and you're stoked.  NO ONE RIDES THIS LAKE in the fall.  It's sad.

I have wanted to drag the boat up there for a day or so, but with my place on the lake in CDA, its kinda more work than its worth.  I can either walk down to the dock and pull the cover off and hit the blower and be off in 3min either skiing there in my bay, or searching for water, or hassle with pulling the boat, driving to Sandpoint, launching, etc.  By the time I did all of it if the boat was still in the water in the morning, it would be about 11-12 before I got on the water.  I really still want to go there and to some of the other smaller lakes around CDA, but havent had the time or the drive to do so yet.

Had a bit of decent weather and got out two more times. Perfect lake with noone on it. I've got to winterize now though. I'm too afraid of freezing. Bon voyage to summer. Dang it.

 >:(  It was a sad day on Saturday 11-05-05. The day the Epic 21 was put away in the pole barn for the winter. It was a great summer this year. Final hours for the ski year 168 hours. I do hope 06 is as good.
