I should be able to suggest a time shortly. My thought now is to pick a Friday/Saturday so that people can show up whenever they can. There is an island right across from Payne's Creek landing that is great. I could toss out a tent mid-week to "reserve" it and we could make it home base. Of course, everyone is welcome to come and go from my place as they wish but tying up a lot of boats at my dock with heavy weekend traffic will get old real fast. With the water level so far down right now, there is an "L" shaped lagoon and a large beach before you get to the shady area. Of course, if we don't get rain, no need to launch the loats as it won't be an island!!

Pete, I here the Corps did you guys dirty with the "faulty" gauge. Hartwell is about 3 ft down from full pool right now but it was 2 ft over this time last year so it actually looks worse than it is.

Wreck, you got that right. The dumbasses couldn't tell that the lake was 2 ft lower than they thought. If they'da asked me, I'da told them exactly how far down it was. I don't know what it takes to be a corps engineer, but a couple of missing chromosomes might be a prerequisite.

Staking out the island is a good idea, throw a tent up on Thurs, we can tie up together there. Probably better than destroying your dock:)

OK guys, Friday, 7/28 and Saturday 7/29. Let me know who can show up on what day so we can figure how to get the largest gathering possible. Remember, up until Friday around 5:00PM, we OWN the lake. After that, it will get typically crowded but the place I have in mind has plenty of elbow room. Breakaway, this is a week later than your reunion so we expect you there! Pete, I checked with the Corp and West Coast Epic Dudes will be given a 2 day waiver. They are currently writing up the rules but promised the manual will be less than 75 pages.

I know that it is late to change the proposed dates since most people actually live by schedules, especially involving summer vacations, etc. In our household, it is impossible to schedule more than a few weeks in advance and the schedule has been known to change within hours on major events. It has been this way for 20 years but as a Type A anal retentive Capricorn, I am still "adjusting"!

It would be great to get at least 8 boats together since this would double the largest gathering of Epics to date. After all, if you look at Frappr, there are other areas that have the potential to pull off a larger showing than this.

Everyone - I hope this doesn't confuse things. Fallback to the following week, 8/4 and 5. This will work for me - maybe better than the earlier weekend. No more changes - promise.

Aug 4-5 is a go once we hear that Lesman can make it. It looks like we will get 7 Epics together if everyone shows. We need one more to reach the "official" goal but want as many as possible. Anyone within driving distance of Hartwell please give some thought to joining us.

I'm about 80%. I will try to make it up, even if i come up just myself. Wifey is due  August 24, so have to plan with regards to that. She's not keen on riding is a boat in 100 degree weather 8 months pregnant.

Yep, they sure get hard to live with around that time!!! Actually, you reminded me that the first time I was on a boat in years was when my wife was 2 weeks overdue. We went to Lake Lanier with friends and bounced all over the place on a Sunday afternoon. My son was born the next morning! We still credit that boat ride with his arrival. It really shows how naive we were...

Hopefully you can make it. Your family is welcome to just relax at the house - I will turn the A/C down real low. However, Hartwell is NOT where you want to have a child so we understand if you come by yourself.

My bride and I were interested in coming to round up. We just bought an 1999 Epic 22 and we only live about an hour from Lake Hartwell in Spartanburg,SC  We could use some advice on boating in general and the Epic
in particular.
We're rookies! It took me an hour to figure out the boat won't start if the deadman switch isn't plugged in.
Could I get some more details about when and where to meet? We can drive down for the day or
stay at a local hotel, but what do we do with the boat?
Thanks
