The aft nylon straps going down to gunwhale are now history. Got stainless 'lifeline' and a turnbuckle running from rear bow to tower. This prevents the side-to-side we had been stuck with without the straps. All in back is good now. Front straps still required at this point.

Bimini covers cockpit from front of windshield base to ski pylon. Boat width by ten feet. Tall enough for a 5'11" mortgage note holder to stand upright while driving.

All pics from Lake Havasu, AZ. First couple from Sandbar, last few from Copper Canyon. All mid-week, or we wouldn't be at either.

Here's half of the Pinecrest Posse (one on a wakeskate.) Boat's not ballasted (YET); maybe six of us all together.

When you're pulling the rope around, it dangles of the edge of the bimini. When the slack is taken out (at 15'-off), the rope pulls 2" above the rear bow. Once the skater stands up, the line is a good foot above the bimini.

High risk/high return approach. We got a lot of looks and points, and it was all positive.

There's a fabric panel near the tower tow point for us to attach the rope. In other words, the bimini only stows when we take the boat on the freeway. To stow, the forward bow flips back, over the tower and lays on the aft bow. The aft bow never moves from its location. A fabric boot wraps it all together.

LOTS of great shade - yes, it's cool anywhere in the boat, even when the sun's lower on the horizon and it's 113F outside. That's not to say we don't take frequent refreshment stops, though :-)

Derek-

That's one awesome bimini, awesome boat, and some incredible scenery!!  Was it really 113 degrees there?  How warm was the water?

PS.  How's your S22 handle chop/rough water?  I have an Epic 22 and its dry, but pretty punishing at speed.

There have been a few 124F weekends there this year. 113F is right on target. Water's too warm on the south end and too cold up by the sandbar. I'd take either one right now ;-)

The Epics are known for their good ride, but they're still towboats. I believe the newer boats (like our friend's Centurion) that have been designed wakeboard-specific probably do better in the chop.

We've got great boats, but the fact remains that we're mising the last three years of towboat evolution. The new boats do some stuff right, but I'd still rather have the Toyota.

Derek,
You definitely win the "manliest Bimini" contest! That is a very unique idea.

Re-pete, if you think your boat rides rough, test drive a Mooba! Make a dentist appointment first ;)
