24000 sounds a little high for not being in excellent condition,  I'd get him down to 19-20 if you really like the boat and you test it on the water and it works great.

3000 lbs may be too much but I use 2000 lbs.  800lb factory sack in the truck, another 300lbs on top of that, 100lbs under the rear seats, 200lbs under the front seats and a 600lb fat sac in the bow walkway.  The wake is sick!!

BTW Mine is a 2000 X-22 DD

Damn, Brent!  Didn't take too long for you to get your boat dialed in!  Sounds like you're running about a 60% rear 40% front weight distribution in your boat.  That's about what I'm running with too (though I use stock ballast, two fat sacks on either side of the engine, and fat people in the bow). The guys at the pro-shop have said that for some reason our Epics do better at 50/50.  I want to try it some time to see what its like. Let me know if you try it.

Derek- I'm not a Lakers fan, but the end of that game was friggin amazing. I tuned in just for the second half of the fourth quarter.  I never watch pro basketball, but I'm glad I didn't miss that one. Congrats!

50/50 eh, I'm going to give that a try next time out!!!!  The walk was already sick at 60/40 (back/front) and I wouldn't doubt that pushing the bow further into the water would make the wake even bigger.  Man, I gotta say that I am very impressed with the wake.  I was out yesturday on a friends 04 Moomba 23' XLV and with the 3000 lb gravity games bags his wake was the same as my x-22 with 2000 lbs.

But one thing is I REALLY REALLY need a 4 blade prop and I hope it fixes the problem i am having with the speed varying up and down while pulling wakeboarders.  thats making me mad.

Brent: varying speed is one of the things you'll get from being torque-deficient. It's also why the accuski has a particularly hard time with our boats, and why wives and the uninitiated have a hard time keeping your pull between 18 and 25.

With the v-drive, I've been using 700 in the trunk and 700 in the walkway, and it planes and drives great. Next step will be a pair of 300 phat buddies in the v-drive lockers for a total of 2K and 40/60-ish distribution.

NAHHH you just have to work the throttle. Our boats can and should rev higher than 50 yr old pushrod V8 designs. Don't be scared to put the whip to it, you can't break it. I was out yesterday with an absolutely overfilled (forgot and shredded the cover!) Skylon Locker Sack (1k) in the trunk, and 7 adults. The wake was awesome, lippier than usual. I like all the weight in the back, 90/10 It digs in if I have any weight in the front, and i get water over the bow. It porpoises a bit that way but I get someone to sit in front:)

REMEMBER weight in the trunk of an Epic is behind the boat. Our trunk is behind the transom. A sack is heavier in the trunk of our boats than any other! Danny Harf put three 550's in the trunk of his X22.

4 blade prop DEFINITELY makes things torquier out of the hole, I am thinking about a stainless one. I can feel my nibral OJ 4 blade cavitating and flexing under heavy loads. Stainless is the answer!

Our boats get out of the hole better than a stock 04 XStar.  Big wake but what a dog!

Cyclone, I was looking at a brass OJ 4 blade, so you are not happy with yours? Lemme know before I buy.

I'm happy, but a stainless prop would be an improvement. A stainless prop was not available when I bought my OJ 4 blade. If I were buying a prop, I would buy a stainless, regardless of boat. It's another 100$... pocket change..;)

A four blade Nibral OJ with heavy cup is a drastic improvement over the stock 3 blade for low speed torque apps like wakeboarding. Not a subtle difference. You will lose 3-5 mph or so on the top end, no problema unless you are a barefooter, in which case you have the wrong boat.

I will buy an OJ stainless for my next prop. I have heard that the Cutters do not have great quality control. I don't know that from personal experience, so take that with a grain of salt.

I've got the OJ stainless, but based on what I've read since that time, I'll go with one of the CNC-milled nibrals next time.

The stainless prop is beautiful and works good, but is clearly built by a craftsman. I'd rather have it built by a machine.

Everybody on wakeworld says that the NC nibrals perform as well as stainless without the risks from a prop that won't give during impact.

The key should shear. That is the idea, anyway. I heard a horror story about a guy who tore up a prop hitting a log, then after replacing his prop, his shaft broke and slid out of the bottom of the boat and sank. He had a 1" hole in the bottom of his boat, and didn't realize it until his boat was almost swamped. Yow. Knock on wood!
