Here is more info on this engine. I have nothing to hide.
It is now located near Augusta, GA. I was told by the guy I got it from, who worked
for Toyota Marine Sports, that it had maybe 20 hours on it. It was stored for a
few years in his garage near Orlando, FL.
He said it was installed in a factory test boat that they crashed while
testing--if I recall what he said correctly, the boat went out of control and grounded out on the shore, the engine
was never submerged or even close to it. I recently took the intake off and verified it was never submerged and it looks new inside. No water in oil either.
Anyway, long story short, every time I post about this, a Mr. Rick Cohn, who also
worked for Toyota Marine years ago, hassles me about it, saying you can't possibly have
that engine, "I know where they all are", where they all went, etc. etc. My first post, a simple "for sale" ad was posted maybe last May, June timeframe. I finally asked the Forum Moderator to remove the ad as it was causing so much controversy.
Rick-- you are certainly not very observant
(maybe that's why you lost "track" of this engine), it was on ebay some months
ago for all to see and bid on....apparently you have a stash of Toyota Marine parts and are jealous you do not have a complete engine among them.
Anyway, a few months ago I told Rick I felt threatened by his continued questioning and furthermore, since he does not work for or represent Toyota anymore I did not want to hear from him anymore about it. He said he would "report" it to Toyota, I told him my attorney is standing by for any for any formal communication from Toyota to me about this.....it has been a few months and I have heard nothing. Rick has my correct phone number and email so, I presume, Toyota also has this information yet I have heard nothing from them.
I gotta believe this is "small potatoes" for the likes of Toyota--assuming there is even an ISSUE at all with me having this engine, which is why I have not heard from them. But it speaks volumes for the lack of professionalism and petty jealously on the part of Rick Cohn, also known on this forum as Capt. Rick.
Back to the engine....I have had a couple of inquiries on buying it from me....one was for use in a 3 point hydro. It would make a screamer in one of those, that's for sure. But you know the more controversy this thing generates the more I feel like keeping it. The controversy is nearly worth the price I paid for it. A few more posts like this and it will be legend......
