That is the engine that was stolen. It was a direct drive with engine support. Was posted then withdrawn.

Hey Capt. Rick Cohn I told you a couple of months ago I had my attorney waiting...where is the paperwork from Toyota anyway?  It has been a few months now.  I told the moderator to pull my for sale ad for this engine because you kept hassling me.  I bought this off ebay, it was not stolen.  And if it was stolen then why hasn't someone from Toyota gotten in touch with me, they have had, what, about 2-3 months now --you have my phone number to give them, I have not changed it.  I have an engine serial number to give them...I just need an official correspondence from Toyota requesting it to see if it appears on their list of stolen goods.

I was not planning on selling this engine anymore...however, if anybody wants it, I am open to offers.  I also got a bunch of extra parts from another engine that had a tag "hit by forklift" on it.

Here is more info on this engine.  I have nothing to hide.

It is now located near Augusta, GA.  I was told by the guy I got it from, who worked
for Toyota Marine Sports, that it had maybe 20 hours on it.  It was stored for a
few years in his garage near Orlando, FL.

He said it was installed in a factory test boat that they crashed while
testing--if I recall what he said correctly, the boat went out of control and grounded out on the shore, the engine
was never submerged or even close to it.  I recently took the intake off and verified it was never submerged and it looks new inside.  No water in oil either.

Anyway, long story short, every time I post about this, a Mr. Rick Cohn, who also
worked for Toyota Marine years ago, hassles me about it, saying you can't possibly have
that engine, "I know where they all are", where they all went, etc. etc.  My first post, a simple "for sale" ad was posted maybe last May, June timeframe.  I finally asked the Forum Moderator to remove the ad as it was causing so much controversy.

Rick-- you are certainly not very observant
(maybe that's why you lost "track" of this engine), it was on ebay some months
ago for all to see and bid on....apparently you have a stash of Toyota Marine parts and are jealous you do not have a complete engine among them.

Anyway, a few months ago I told Rick I felt threatened by his continued questioning and furthermore, since he does not work for or represent Toyota anymore I did not want to hear from him anymore about it.  He said he would "report" it to Toyota, I told him my attorney is standing by for any for any formal communication from Toyota to me about this.....it has been a few months and I have heard nothing.  Rick has my correct phone number and email so, I presume, Toyota also has this information yet I have heard nothing from them.

I gotta believe this is "small potatoes" for the likes of Toyota--assuming there is even an ISSUE at all with me having this engine, which is why I have not heard from them.  But it speaks volumes for the lack of professionalism and petty jealously on the part of Rick Cohn, also known on this forum as Capt. Rick.

Back to the engine....I have had a couple of inquiries on buying it from me....one was for use in a 3 point hydro.  It would make a screamer in one of those, that's for sure.  But you know the more controversy this thing generates the more I feel like keeping it.  The controversy is nearly worth the price I paid for it.  A few more posts like this and it will be legend......

Rust, I would say that it belongs to you until Toyota comes up with something to prove that it does not. Funny, they don't seem very interested in tracking down used  obsolete marine parts. It would be the other end of the ebay deal they'd want to talk to if it turns out stolen, and who knows how many times it changed hands since then, legally or not. A couple of core engines is what we are talking about. One runs. How's the Fork  Truck one lookin'? JB Weld and an old license plate worked for me on a timing cover;) I'm totally down on some engine parts, I'm in Atlanta and can come get them. I'll be in Augusta the week after next, wouldn't mind hooking up, beer whatever.

Since you can find a dressed out new M1UZ complete with Vdrive transmission etc for 6900$ new (Safro Marine, I heard), I'd say that a used running M1UZ is worth 2-3k depending how dressed out.

Just my .02;)

Pete, I agree.  IMHO the statute of limitations has run out since I have not heard anything about this in months.  Let the powers that be have at it...bring 'em on.  I have far more important things to attend to and, I venture to say, so do they......

As far as what this engine is worth you are probably not wrong.  However it is worth at least $5k to me as I have a project in mind that requires a 300 hp inboard engine.  I did not pay $5k for it but that is irrelevant.  Either this engine or a low hours Mercruiser would do it but I figure to get a Mercruiser with transmission on it this nice would cost me $5k (and I would have to go find it).  But it would not be as unique as this engine nor "rev like a sports car" the way this one does!

I think you should have fun with it. Search the photo gallery, there are pics of several boats from down under with an older version of the twin cam V8. One guy supercharged his, there are kits available down under. Lots of custom marine parts, custom ECMs, exhaust manifolds, etc.
