Guages in these boats are the pits
« on: May 15, 2006, 03:39:58 am »
I bought Krejci's x22 last year and have been unable to keep the guages working.  I'm not just talking speedos........I'm talking everything.  It is an all or none phenomena.  I have checked all the usual suspects such as the fuse by battery switch and connections behind dash.  I'm gonna make one trip to ski masters with it and if that doesn't work there will be another epic for sale.  Any other ideas?  Would love to hear them................

The usual suspects:

Run new 10- or 8-gauge fused power and ground lines to the computer and to the dash. This will stop the low-voltage alarm issue and would help if you've got a crappy connection too.

Clean out the fuse holder by the battery and any connectors you can get to on the computer and under the dash.

If you have an isolator, etc., take all that out and work as stock as you can (alternator, perko switch, battery) too see what changes.

Didn't Capt. Rick say he would test it for you if you mailed the computer to him?

Yeah, I get the annoying low-voltage alarm and my depthfinder broke a couple years ago, but beyond that, things are solid - tach, multi-function gauge, speedo and message center are all solid.

What's your charging and battery setup? Any chance it's been hard on the computer like jump starting is supposed to be?

Something's broke. If you're gonna sell it, pick a better reason, like Fest's "I need seating for 32 and twice the engine displacement."

It is a loose connection. You might try using a wire tie around each of the big fat white connectors under the dash, they tend to work loose. Also, the two connectors that go to the MMDC box, they can get corroded. Make sure they are clean and dry, then use some silicone water displacement spray on them, and make sure they are secure.

Our gauges are nothing special, Supra, Mastercraft and Malibu all used the exact same gauges during the same period. They have similar complaints.

We now have an 8 page troubleshooting guide for the Medallion II Series Instruments in the Maintenance section. This was procured from a Medallion engineer. Thanks to Terry for forwarding this on!

Kick butt, I've been looking for something like this for quite a while.

Lesman and Terry save the day.

Tom had a problem just like described and it turned out to be a bad fuse block. One of the ones below the accessory switches in the dash.
