Low oil pressure warning
« on: November 14, 2006, 17:16:30 pm »
I bought a 2000 Epic 21 this past summer.  Great boat.  I have maintenance question.  After running the boat at a normal speed and then slow to an idle or no wake speed, the low oil pressure warning alarm shows that the oil pressure has dropped below the threshold of 20 psi.  It will fluctuate between 12 and 18 and within a minute will go back to normal.  The oil level looks fine.    Any suggestions?

That's normal.  Something to do with sensor from the factory.

My 2001 E21 does the same thing. Always after it's warmed up and the oil has thinned out a little. I think someone here once said that's normal for our engines to idle <10 psi oil pressure. You might search the Forum for that thread.

Buy one here from TMS,  or Overton's, or Marine Products - it seems like everyone has had success with just switching it out.

8352067010   OilPressureSender,12V    $38.14

I put the one Marine Products in Salt Lake recomended on.  No more beeps for now.  The gauge is much more stable.  The part number on this sender is 18-5899.  It is not a Toyota sender.  Some aftermarket brand they are recomending.  Call them.  Give them the number, they may be able to tell you more.

well I bought and changed the oil sender, bought it from overtons. It took care of the low presure warning alarm going off.
