That's funny... I have been the same way. I get depressed thinking how much money I have spent on my boat in the past few weeks. But I'm proud to say that i'm among the few that have already been on the water -- we had a brief warm spell in WA last weekend and I touched it in on Saturday for about an hour. Just long enough to make sure the stereo works, mount the mirror arm, and drink a beer. It was nice...
About the tower arm, it was a very good deal but I was not impressed with the finish quality on the arm, the communication from the seller, or the fact that it took 16 days to arrive. Originally I guessed it was a Boss knockoff since the ebay auction didn't promote the brand very hard, though the box was wrapped in Boss tape. My guess is these were factory seconds and thirds that they couldn't sell for full price and dumped them for DIRT CHEAP on ebay. That being said, it was less than $100. I'M STOKED. I mounted it on the same cross bar as the racks (the same as everybody else that has this one), and it does sit close to the face but not bad. Definitely a huge improvement over the windshield mounted mirror.
I tried mounting on the vertical brackets, but our towers have so much angle that the mirror sits crooked unfortunately. So if you are like me and thought that it would mount well on the vertical arm, think again. But it looks way better than I thought. Will take pics next time I'm out.
