Use the 3-step teak restoration kits that you can get from any marine store and it should do the trick.  I used a stiff-bristled brush for the first step (teak cleaner) to really work into the wood and it will bring it right back.  If not, sandpaper works too.  Many other members have given up on teak-staining and used deck stain on their swimsteps.  I haven't gone that far yet, I really like the color of the teak...I just expect to stain the platform 2-3x per season.

This is the product I have used for the last 5 years. Takes me about 2 hours a year to keep the teak looking good.

Thanks Sailtl, I had seen that website before.  Now that I know it works I went ahead and ordered the product.

This website is great.

One word: Teak-a

This stuff is amazing, on my Scarab I used to sand down the platform every year, which over the course of like 10-12 years makes the platform thinner.  Was recommended Teak-a by Ski Masters Watersports here in Seattle for my Epic platform and it works so well!  Basically, 2 steps with an optional 3rd.  1st step is lifting the gunk that builds up, 2nd removes it all, and finally you can coat the teak with a quaility teak oil.  I just did the last step last summer, and my platform had never looked better.

Regarding the stain on the swim platforms, has anyone ever used Tung oil vs. Teak oil as the finish? I have a retailer here telling me they are the same thing (he does not have any Teak oil at the moment), but I have not heard of Tung oil before. I am up in Canada and All Guard does not have any retailers up here... getting the product shipped up across the line can be a real nuisance, a bit pricey for shipping, and I am in a hurry... just curious if any of you have used the Tung oil before and could comment on the results.

I have 2 Epics at the moment (Epic 21 and an X22) both with bleached white platforms that need to be brought back to life... one real quick so I can get it up for sale.

I just did mine, I used a pressure washer. It took the grey right out like sanding it down.  I just need to oil it now!

Just don't use the Meguiar's teak oil.  That stuff sucks.  Nearly a dozen coats, two days in the water, and my teak needs to be re-done again.  The best stuff I've found is the StarBrite 3-step teak system (cleaner, color restorer, oil).

My mechanic threw in a "free" steam pressure wash on my swim platform this year. About 5 minutes and it was as good as new. I went ahead and applied some teak brightener the next day and then oiled it. Looks great.
