Boat summerized but cold nights
« on: May 05, 2007, 06:33:40 am »
I couldn't resist summerizing the boat to take advantage of some good weather. Boat was summerized although haven't been able to take it out yet. It is now supposed to get around 30degrees for a few hours during the next couple of nights and then back up to 50-60s during the day. Boat is stored outside in driveway. Couple people suggested dropping a work light under engine cover.  Is it cold enough to worry about?

It should be ok, as long as it doesn't get any colder.

The temperature needs to be at 32 degrees for 8 hours before any damage will happen. A lead light in the motor area should do the trick.

I second the idea of putting a small light or space heater in your engine compartment. It only takes a second then you don't have to worry. I did it on both boats earlier this season, no problems at all.
