Johnson 812 Impellar
« on: May 09, 2007, 00:31:42 am »
Hello everyone.  I am trying to order a new impellar from skidim.com.  They require that I enter my engine, marinization and transmission.  I have an Epic X-22 with, I believe either a 302 or 305.  Which one is it?  As for the marinization, isn't it the Indmar?  I have no idea on the transmission.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks guys and girls.

P.S. - If there is an easier and/or better place to order the impellar from please share, thanks.

Todd

I am far from a professional on this site... but it appears that Capt Rick can get you anything for your boat... I refer you to an earlier posting of his

http://www.epicmarine.com/forum4/index.php?topic=1160.msg10239#msg10239

I took my impeller off last year to check it, decided I needed a new one and just took it into a boat shop and they matched it up to one hanging on the wall... said it was a popular one with Malibu boats.

As for the engine, you may not know how fortunate you are. Details on your Lexus powerplant are also on this site  http://www.epicmarine.com/images/300i%20Specs1.jpg

Great instructions on this site for changing your impeller and other maintenance as well... incredible resource. My brother has a Malibu and still has not found a reference site anything like this for his boat.

Skiboarder, so the Johnson 812B is the same impeller as the Johnson 812?  Just want to make sure before I order it.  Thanks.

yes it is, I just ordered one from capt rick and saw the same one in overtons a little cheaper. Same part # on both. Just click the overtons link and it will take you right to it.

I pulled mine and inspected yesterday without changing it out, just from lack of planning more than anything. I know that it's supple and there are no cracks whatsoever so will surely be good for another 50-hour season  :-[

I did order Densos finally. My idle's been a touch mortal since pulling the fuel tank back in 2003. Never really annoying, and still really smooth, but not the velvet I remember from those first few months. Oh well, 330 hours isn't quite the advertised 1000, but it's still very acceptably performing.

Also...the serpentine belt is still supple, no cracks, chips, or really any obvious signs of wear at all. I've threatened to buy one to have as a spare, and probably should before Capt. runs out of parts.

FYI, I tried rockauto.com and some others but right now this was the best deal I was able to find:

www.autopartsworld.com

Denso SK20R11 $8.24 x 8 with UPS Next Day Air for $74.75. Order placed 5/14, delivered 5/16.

Might run the boat with the old plugs Friday, swap them out that night, and hope to see SOME difference Saturday.

PS. Pete, thanks for the spark plug instructions in the how-to. Do you think we might could add the socket sizes and torque values for the plugs and coil bolts? I'll did that stuff up tonight from the VT300i manual and post it here if you'd like.

Off topic, perhaps...

The manual states 13 ft/lbs for the spark plugs, which I believe to be much lower than that listed for aluminum heads on the Denso box. 5/8" spark plug socket, btw.

Also, the torque on the coil boils is 66 in/lbs (that's 5.5 ft/lbs, right?) I believe that's a 10mm socket.
