fat seats and fat sacks
« on: January 22, 2004, 05:41:18 am »
I'm thinking of getting a fat seat this year, people have said that you also need to put a fat sack up front to balance the ride is that true?

Denny,
I don't have a fat seat but I run a fat sack in the trunk + 225lbs of sandbags. In the bow, I have a 65 lb. snadbag under each seat and four more under the dash.I also picked up some "suitcase" type tractor weights(100lbs. each for the side storage). The wake is nice. It's no wake like Travis Moye had when he had the 'Yotas at Ride the Spot, but friends have been pulling all the tricks where you think a huge wake would be needed.
Post some pics of your new ride!Welcome to the Epic family.Enjoy it!!

If you do decide to use sandbags, wrap them in trash bags and tape them up so you don't get sand everywhere.

I run just the fat seat, the boat tends to plow a bit with a sack up front. If you have four or more people on board you don't need the front sack. In my opinion, the wake is better without the front sack. I plumbed my Fat Seat in to an auto ballast system, there are some pics on the how to page.

I was at the Milwaukee Boat show and saw the new "Convertable Fat Seat" by Barefoot International.

It is huge adds 1800lbs and extends 28" further on the side of the engine. the back rest can face the otherway.

Looks pretty cool but is that too much weight or is there no such thing as TOO much.

Look at www.barefootinternational.com/fatsacs.htm

Seems like the backrest part of that (since it's now removeable) could be tapped with your add-a-port and then wrapped under the front seats.

that's what I mean, I have two "fat seats" I may upgrade to Bigass seats. The more weight I put in the back of this boat the better the wake gets. I don't like any extra weight in the front at all.
