Epicmariners...where you at?
« on: January 30, 2004, 03:06:03 am »
Pete, when you get done with all the other stuff we're depending on you for (like PP, guitar amps, solenoid valve research, help me troubleshoot my depth finder, etc...) we need to build a map. On the map, we need to start putting markers for original dealer locations, current service centers, and 'us'. The markers should be hot, and should link to extra info where applicable. Seems like the cool way to see who's close, etc.

In the mean time...epicmariners, where ya at?

I'm in Corona, a burb in the Los Angeles area.

Good idee. I am going to revamp the site soon anyway. Not the forum, just the pages. I may try to get some ads to offset the cost. I don't think Toyota gives a crap. Right now, we are the Lone Rangers.

A map would be good. I travel a lot and live in Atlanta, which has awesome weather 10 mos. a year and when I'm home I'm 10 min from the lake.  So, if you are travelling thru ATL and can kill half a day, I'll take you out, I'm going anyway! If I'm in town. OR, I might be in YOUR town, in which case, I'd be more than happy to help you put in/pull out, wipe down, toss trash, buy gas beer food and ice. and ride a couple of times on your equipment:)

Pete, assuming your labor rate is still $zero....let us know what it costs to have the site hosted and we'll annie up. No doubt.

You're wrong that Toyota doesn't care about your site. They do care about it, and would prefer that epicmarine.com shut down. They'd prefer that we don't talk amongst eachother, even if we're in love with our boats and talk generally well about Toyota Marine and its three remaining employees. Us together is a liability for them.

I read some wakeworld archives written by the prior Toyota rider, and must admit his comments pretty much bummed me out. They were buried in a thread where a guy was forced to sell his S22 and couldn't imagine that he'd be able to find a replacement boat with as good a wake. They pro chimed in and said basically that he'd owned many Toys and that they're just not capable of pro-level wakes. The other dude ended up with an couple year old X-Star and was amazed at how much power the thing had and that the wake was insane. I agree that I don't and won't need a pro wake, but it kinda bummed me anyway.

Yes, anytime any of you are out to SoCal, let me know.

Wassup, guys!  Lovin' winter here near the City of Brotherly Love.  I live just north of Philly, but the Epic 22  :)  that my brother and I own is on Moosehead Lake, Maine :( .  Wish it weren't so far away, and that summer wasn't so far away!!

As I've told you before, Pete, two month's after you've started boarding, the ice hasn't even gone out yet!!  It is beautiful there in the summer though.

Great idea about the map, Derek, and sure, I'd be willing to kick in for some site upkeep.

Se ya'all.

I will lead the Midwest chapter of fellow Epic Heads. When close to Milwaukee, lets ride! Like re-pete, we have ice until end of March beginning of April, and with a high of 4deg today it may be a late start.

Do any of you Epic Heads have Skyskis or Airchairs? Wakes are not that important and in half a day I could get you launching at least 6ft. (landing lessons next half day)
It is also nice to do when there is too much chop for a good wakeboard session. I'm trying to get a skyski attachment to the tower. I'll send pictures, 2 boards on one side and a skyski on the other.

Hey gr8dna, my depth gauge is a pain in the A$$ too. Rarely can I get it to give a continuous reading.

Whenever see you in the land of Beer, Cheese, Brats and Toyota Epics. Some of us always have to have beer close by, see pic

That is some funny stuff. I tried that boom-barefooting once and couldn't imagine holding a soldier at the same time.

There's only one thing...if you're riding west of the rockies, you've gotta observe the official boat beer, the Silver Bullet. Once you get back to the truck, you're free to hit the Pabst, Schlitz, MGD, Bud, Sam, Sierra or Seagrams :-)

Denny-

Looking forward to seeing those air-chair pix.  I was thinking about getting one, and almost talked Atlanta Pete (Cyclone) into getting one a year or so ago.

The videos you can view at their website look cool, but I've heard falls can be nasty---and dangerous.  Would love to hear more from someone that has really done it.  Fill us in (Maybe start an Air-Chair thread).

I was outside of Chicago mid-week for work, and it was 2 degrees during the day--ouch.  Stay warrm

My lake, north of Chicago, has about a foot of ice.  Last skied with a drysuit the first week of Dec.  I think the lake might thaw aroun April.  Maybe I can get into Lake Michigan on a calm day in a few months.  Who else is in the Chicago/Milwaukee area?

Dave, I usually ski on Okauchee Lake, half hour west of Milwaukee. It gets busy on week ends otherwise its great. When possible I like to go up to Wolf River, Fremont, Wisconsin Area (1 hour, 15 minutes NW of Milwaukee). It almost always has fantastic water.

What do you typically do? Wakeboard, Slalom,b-foot,H-foils, tube?-(just kidding, although I have Kids so I am sometimes forced to-waste of good gas)

I've found that it's best to break out somebody else's tube (can't picture spending good gas money on buying one) in the afternoon once the rest of our budies have got their buzz on.

Then we hook the tube up to the tower....

This year, I'll try the same with ballast....

I wakeboard and slalom.  We set up a course a few times per week and use other boats as my vdrive doesn't have a good slalom wake.  I haven't been boarding as much after a facial fracture whil boarding.  What about you?
