Moorage?
« on: March 23, 2008, 18:42:34 pm »
In the manual it sates that you can't leave to boat in the water for more than two weeks...   Is this true?  I am looking at getting a moorage for my boat and would take it out maybe once every 2 months.  Or more specificaly, does the epic have a gel coat over the fiberglass?  Thanks

I wouldn't leave it in even for 2 weeks.  I did 3 days and the gel coat got so stained......   I believe Toyota's concern is for the gel coat being damaged. I believe they recommend that you paint the bottom with an anti fowlling marine paint....... Still 2 much time in the water has been known to cause gel coats to bubble..........

I would not leave in the water for more than a couple days.  When I was shopping for used Epics there were several out there with severe gel coat blistering, not a pretty sight nor a cheap fix.

Missed that in the manual! Glad you brought it up. I never would have thought water could damage our boats. I bought my lift just to keep the hull clean and so I wouldn't have to worry about it sinking when I wasn't around.
