My boat is now running great but I have had some belt issues.  I am on my 3rd belt and that seems strange to me.  Has anyone else had problems with their belt lasting?  This one seems fine so far and I have inspected all my pulleys but they all seem to be fine.  Maybe I had a bad belt last time, not sure..

If there is an alignment problem or problem with a pulley, the belt will usually start to fray pretty quickly. If it doesn't happen to the new belt pretty quickly, I'd say you just got a bad belt last time.

cool, this one has been on for about 4 outings and no problems yet.  I'll keep my fingers crossed.  I tried to look at the alignment of the pulleys with the naked eye and didn't see anything out of place... the last one never broke but both sides split off and just left about 3/4" of the belt in the middle in tact.  luckily I found it before it broke.  It made a bunch of debris that got into my MAS making the engine run rough.  I have since taken the MAS out and cleaned it real good with brake cleaner and now it runs like a Lexus again.

Regardless, I would throw a spare in your boat.  I do.  K-town didn't, and ended up needing a tow into the dock last year.  It is worth the 20 bucks!

Where you getting a belt for $20 bucks.  The belts here are $50.

We bought ours at Autozone and they actually had some cheaper.  For the record, Flyn didn't get his belt until he saw how quickly they can go from normal to shredded.  We both got a high quality belt for the boat and a cheapo for the glovebox.

I went to autozone and got a $25 jobber.  I put it on and seems to fit snug.  I will keep an eye on it.  The old one I noticed was rubbing somwhere and leaving rubber dust on the engine.  I hope it was just loose or somthing. It was still in one piece, so it is in the glove box as a spare.

what is Kragen? never heard of it...  I don't remember the part number i got. i just counted the grooves and measured the length of the old belt.  should have written it down i guess cause i need to grab a spare.

The part number 4060882 is the number on the Goodyear Gatorback belt. It should be good whereever you go. Belt was for a '99 Lexus GS 400. I agree a spreadsheet w/ part nos. would be great. At some point this info will be priceless. As of right now this boat will have to last me a while. Not that I want to get rid of it. My buddies are going to be jealous of me this summer when we go to fill up. Or should I say when they go to fill up and I wait  for them. Sometimes that backfires tho. They will want to go out in my boat. I can't wait !

Haha, spread sheet.  I think the American economy actually runs on Excel.   

I would prefer to see another column in our already complete parts DB that has the off the shelf part numbers.  Maybe even a way for us to submit part numbers and the shop that carries it.  This way it would be searchable and as Capt Rick starts to sell out we will have alternatives listed right next to the existing info.
