The crossbar on which the racks mount is 1.5" You can use some rubber. I cut up a white docking bumper to use for my mirror bracket.

I mounted the racks on the vertical bar on the back side of the tower just above the horizontal bar and it was perfect.  I'll have to post some pics next time I have it out.  Very nice.

Any of you have any board racks you can part with?  One of mine broke last weekend, and I keep losing the ebay auctions for the sets of Skylon picklefork racks.  I don't NEED replacement racks, but I really WANT them for a decent price (and I don't consider $300/ea at the local shop a decent price). ;)

And a side story that I thought I'd share (just because I can), I went out to my car this morning and found a nice surprise waiting for me:  Four panels on the 4runner were keyed -- all the way down to the metal. What did I do to deserve that?  I have no idea... Somebody walked around the passener side of the car and around to the trunk.  The trunk is NASTY...  What frustrates me even more is that I know that it was for no reason whatsoever (I haven't pissed anybody off in a long time...that I know of anyway).  An expensive prank and one that I don't think is funny at all.

That's all the whining I'll do for a while.  I promise.  So, does anybody have any racks that can be parted with?

in reply to villageidiot:

i have a pair of racks that i will sell you for a good price.  i just have to dig them out.  i dont like the mounts however.  they have a "fits all" type clamp that WILL damage the powder coating on the tower.  i think they are wakeside with black mount and chrome racks.  i replaced them with boss racks that were new on e bay.

I WILL GLADLY TRADE YOU STRAIGHT ACROSS IF YOU HAVE A SERPENTINE BELT LAYING AROUND!  (long shot but worth asking)  sa

Hey Scott, could you post some pics? Or send them to me by email?  Let me know what you're thinking of getting for them, before I make you go through all the hassle.  With the damage to the 4runner, I wonder if new board racks are really a necessity for me.   Aaah hell...who am I kidding.  I need the racks.  Let me know what you're looking to get for 'em.

Thanks!
