Wake Enhancement wedge plate

Has anyone installed one on your epic and where did you get it?  I'm talking about the wedge plate like you see on the malibu/supra/MC that you drop down to enhance the wake.

I think Malibu is the only company that utilizes the wedge (patent?).  This issue has been discussed on wakeworld.com a few times, and the conclusion seems to be that you shouldn't add the wedge to a boat that is not designed for the additional stress.  I think you can also run into some steering problems.  I would be interested to know if anyone has tried it.  I've always liked the idea of quickly changing the wake, but I?m not going to risk damaging my hull.  Here are a couple discussions I found on the subject.  Hope this helps.

He's talking about the trim tab used on Supras, etc. not the wedge. I would not put a wedge on any boat, I've seen pictures of giant holes in the transom, boat sinks, people swimming to shore. From hitting a log or sandbar. That is not unusual in a boat, sinking as a result is definitely unusual. :0

As for the trim tab, try it and see! It's just a couple of holes, any gelcoat guy can make them disappear if you don't like it. There was one in the latest Overtons catalog, specifically for ski boats.

Me too, Kyle. So, if Brent is talking about a plate, then he's looking at the same deal that davidgree's asking about in the trim tab thread.

I sort of looked into these things last year because I was pulling the youngins at real low speeds and bow rise is bad there, and even at speed, there is evidence that we need more weight in the bow.

Trim tabs can only un-sink the back of the boat. This means that most likely, they can only reduce the size of your wake. If you've got problems with 1) bow rise and 2) whitewash at low speeds, the trim tab would probly help. But if you left the tab set to the same position all the time, that same setting might/would hurt your wakeboard wake.

Water ballast, or lead if you don't trailer.
