Looking to buy an Epic
« on: April 06, 2009, 18:36:02 pm »
I have been looking around for an Epic to have up at the family cabin.  We're definitely a Toyota family... I have a landcruiser and 4Runner, Dad has his Tundra, Mom's got her Lexus, etc.  now we would like a boat to match it all!

We live in Canada but are willing to do some of the transportation of course, since it seems almost all of these boats are in the US.

We would prefer a V-Drive, but I have seen a couple nice X-22's on here that I would consider.

That's all I have for now.  Hopefully someone here can help me out, or point me in the direction of a website where I could find more Epics for sale?

I will check back here frequently, or you could email me at dustinbartsch @ hotmail . com.

Thanks everyone,
Dustin

Dustin,

Welcome to the site and I hope you find the right boat for you.  I read your posts on Flyn's page and the biggest issue you will face is shipping.  It's not difficult, but it definitely can be stressfull.  Almost all new Epic owners have to travel or ship boats, due to the small number of boats available.  I drove to AL to get mine (I am in TX).  I was thinking about selling last year and since our lake is down 18 feet this year, I will probably be putting my boat for sale again in a few weeks.  I noticed you were interested in Flyn's boat and I can say that his boat is immaculate.  I know him very well and I think he must suffer from Obsessive Compulsive disorder.  His house, car, and especially boat are spotless.  He also spent a lot of time and money on his sound system as well.  My boat is not nearly as spotless, and my sound system is not nearly as deafening, but overall its in really good shape.  It has the standard wear on the interior and scratches that you would find on 95% of the boats of it's age.  Flyn's is one of those 5%.  All that being said, my boat is a V-Drive and if you know you want a V-Drive, you may want to take a look at the post below.  There is a lot of discussion about V-Drive vs Direct Drive on the site (I have been pulled by both and I don't find much difference).  I think the biggest difference is the seat layout and storage.  I was going to sell my boat last year for 28,500, but I would sell it for 27,000.  It still needs some work on one of the internal ballast tanks (I just haven't found time to do any work on the boat).  It's a 2002 SX model.

Due to current econony, I may need to sell my beloved 2001 Sx. I live in Denver, and I sold my last boat to a guy from Alberta, Canada. Upgrades are;

Perfect pass
heater
hot shower
Hippo ballast ( I think 1100 lb) system ( over$3000 to install)
extra bilge pump in transom
Bose tower speakers and killer stereo system
Extra ACME 13 x 10 prop -great for hole shot when heavily loaded.
surf rack
extra teak swim platform and brackets modified for surfing.-see my previous posts
matching blue trampoline bimini and snap on cover.

I think it has around 470hrs, and has usual wears and scratches for 8 year old boat. Overal great shape. We just had a major snow storm, so will post some pictures later.
Asking $25,000

I checked out your boat in the registry and noticed your home lake is Jarvis. I am headed there during the first week of July with some young men aged 12-18 for most of the week. How is that lake for water play? Warm? What are the beached like? Have never been before so looking forward to it.

Why are you selling your boat? Replacing it with something newer? Looks like a nice one. If you have time during that first week in July, stay in touch and I will let you know what day(s) we are going to be there. Would be fun to meet up on the lake. Mine is a blue and white x22... family really seem to like it... has been good to us for past couple of years.

I would be interested in seeing more pictures. Have relatives that like my boat and may be interested in yours.
