SURFING
« on: June 07, 2009, 16:09:27 pm »
Has anyone figured out the secret to a nice surf wake?  My boat naturally curls to the right which is good for wakeboarding but only helps the "goofy footed" surfer..  I'm in a SX 22 with out the stock ballast (working on fixing that) but I took 2 600lb fat sacks and 3 250lb fat buddies and tried several different positions with 3 people in the boat.  one in front, one in very back, 3 small ones on sides.  then all in back and side...  still just a small frothy wake.  any ideas?  maybe I'm just spoiled by my buddies Wakesetter and some of the other big boats around here but surely our boats can throw a wake too..  I think I have heard of people adding a wake plate to the Epics, does that work?  any ideas would be great, thanks!

there is a way to change the prop rotation of your boat if it is important to you to switch sides

of course, you will need a new prop

I've heard that you just flip the lever on the transmission, I haven't looked into trying it.

One thing that scares me about surfing is tilting the engine over at a 45deg angle. Car engines are designed to go up and down hills but not tilt side to side. I worry about uncovering the oil pump pickup. I think some new boats are designed for this but I don't know about the M1UZ. It would be smart to look at the engine manuals and figure out if its feasible. It was something that was not considered when these boats were designed.

Look up all of Blindsides posts and pictures of surfing. He's got his boat pretty well dialed in for that.
