Breakaway; If you have any of those "lexus inside" stickers or the big epic marine ones you should hook Johnny up.
Johhny, I can certainly understand your frustration, there are certain things about these boats that are maddening. The issues I've seen are not quality related, and are similar to those of other boats from other manufacturers made around the same era. Ballast systems are the #1 service/warrantee issue on any new wakeboat to this day. Some of the systems on the Epics were a work in progress, our two boats look identical but we may have completely different ballast systems. They didn't make a lot of these boats and it is very safe to say that there are no two alike!! They are hand made.
The undersized electrical supply to the dash, oil sender unit, noisy blower, broken trunk lift cylinders and ballast issues are the things I've spent time on with both boats.
The thing to keep in mind that the boats still perform as well or better than most new boats. They are cheap to run, and when you get the kinks worked out, they are bulletproof. My old Epic was so dialed, it has worked flawlessly for the second owner for several years. I think a ballast pump went out, but that's wear and tear. They are worth fixing up as some things about an Epic can't be replaced with a new boat, fuel economy being foremost.
If you get tired of working on a boat, sell it to someone here who want's to upgrade:) If money was no object, I'd buy a Carver cruiser and a Sky Ski that costs more than the old ski boat I'd get to pull it;)
