Wake plate needed, the old owner removed it???
« on: June 22, 2009, 18:01:25 pm »
Has anyone seen a reason to remove the wake plate?  It was done to my X-22 by the old owner.  Does it really help with the wake size or shape?  I want to make the wake larger, will it help?

MHH0011111 Plate,HullWake,E22,X22,AluminumAnodize 1  21  133.75  $100.31  $15.00

it helps as a wedge, to get a bigger wake.

It was a bandaid put on there by the factory when they found out that the boat would porpoise with weight in the back. Removing it will make the back end of the boat sink deeper and make the wake bigger but it will porpoise without some weight up front.

Why don't you be the first to put an adjustable trim tab on your epic?

Cyclone,
Has the adjustable trim tab worked effectively on S-22 to eliminate porpoising at the mid to low upper area of the RPM range ?
Thanks curtis

I know 500-600 pounds under the front seats eliminates porpoising.

They only added the wakeplate to certain Epic22's, X22's. Not the V drive (omega) hull. I have also found that a little weight up front really helps, like it does on most V drives. I have about 90lbs up there.

Thanks for the heads up on the weight. We will try that instead of the a tab.
We will be going out more to the lakes soon. Baseball & Softball just starting to slow down.
