Epic SX Wanted
« on: July 09, 2009, 02:03:52 am »
Hi there,
I'm new to the Epic forum, but am so interested in getting into one of these awesome boats. If anyone comes across a SX for sale, please let me know.
Thanks,
ROB

This person is likely asking too much but it is a decent looking SX.  http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=218&ad=6980245&cat=&lpid=

Thanks Guys, that was quick. I tried calling about both of these boats, but no one is picking up. They must get nervous when they see that "wierd" Canadian area code....  :(
I'm not in a huge hurry and don't mind waiting to find the rigth boat/price for me.
Thanks for the posts already.

Your title is fine...  The SX is the V-drive varient.  Good luck on the search, it's a great boat

Cheers, thanks.
The more I've been looking, the more I like the SX. It's really too bad that Toyota stopped making these boats.
I might be SOL this year and have to be content with waiting until next year.
I really appreciate you guys keeping an eye out for me.
Thanks again.

Here's an SX that looks like it may be a repo.

Just realized that in my previous post that was a straight drive.

The SX I saw is in Salt Lake City craigslist at http://saltlakecity.craigslist.org/boa/1261719559.html

Thanks Bmccalla.
I've talked the guy who owns that last one that you sent me. It's a nice boat, but I think that the price is just a bit too high to be honest, well at least out of my price range. My budget is closer to $20,000
I've got a line on another one, no website for it, but it's a 2001 SX, purple haze, trampoline top, looks really nice from pics, not sure on hours yet, and a few other options that I can't remember right now, anyway he wants $23,000
Now providing the hours are under 500, is this a good deal? The Nada book value says $21,500 - $24,500
So, maybe $23,000 isn't so much after all... What do you guys think?
Thanks.

That's a good price, depending on options, esp. Perfect Pass, covers, depth finder,

three years ago i thought i could buy an SX for $25K and most for sale, OK the two for sale wanted $32k and $30.  it was the middle of the winter & i thought i had all the advantage. they stayed firm on there price but when i went to go see one it was immaculate. mint cond. with almost every option available. i didn't even haggle and that's not like me. If you truly want an SX remember there are only 58 in existence. You are gonna have to travel or ship it. i drove 1400 miles round trip.

I just nada valued my boat, its got every option and then some- $22800-$26000. i paid $30k three years ago and i have put another $5k in it since i bought it. I wouldn't even consider selling it for even $26k. that all said, i know its a down market and some people may get a smokin deal on an SX but i wouldn't hold my breath. especially if you really want one.

$23K is a smokin deal especially if there are less than 500 hrs. not that hrs mean much on our boats.

just my 2 cents
OVER 800 HRS ON 2 EPICS.

Thanks for the insight WakeJunky,
I didn't know that there were only 58 ever made. That's pretty cool. I'm still going to look for one. Here's a thought for you guys, what boat is better, the Epic S or the SX??? I know that there are some differences like ballast, tower, but is that it?
What do you kids think?

Oh and if our Cdn dollar jumps up in value to your green back, I'll be bugging you lads to sell me one of your beautiful SX's.  ;)

If I can't track down a Toyota by next spring, I think that I might have to find an older Malibu wake setter or mastercraft vrs.
Can anyone recommend something that would be close in quality/economical to run/low maintenance?

I really hope though that I can join this elite group, you guys seem like you're a good bunch and willing to help out... Are you sure that you're not all Canadians that have moved to warmer waters???  :D Just kidding, you're a good bunch.
Now, please help find one of these boats :)

On another note, there is a 2000 Toyota Epic X22 for sale up here in my neck of the woods, 501 hrs on it. Here is the link:

http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-boats-Toyota-Epic-X22-W0QQAdIdZ142265189

He is asking $20,000 cdn or if you prefer, $17,900 usd, looks like a nice boat, but not the v-drive or an SX...

Anyway, keep you eyes and ears open for me. I'd love to get my hands on an 01 sx purple haze. Thanks guys, sorry for the long post.

Hey there Guys,
I've found a 2001 S 22 for $22,000. It doesn't have a tower and the swim platform just came off and is some where in the middle of the lake. He doesn't have a travel cover... So I'm wondering, how hard is it to find these things, platform, tower & travel cover?? Also, any idea of what they might cost? I don't think that there are very many hours on it, so that's a good thing. Did the 2001 S-22 come with any built in balast? Is it possible to set this boat up for surfing with out having any fat sacs outside of the hull?? Thanks guys.
