adding cleats?
« on: May 01, 2004, 22:48:18 pm »
My ?99 X22 could definitely use a couple more cleats.  I was planning on adding one on each side towards the rear of the boat.  I was wondering if any of you have done this.  If so, I would appreciate some advice on which ones to get (pop-up, pull-up, etc..), where I can find them, and some installation tips.  Thanks.

I can give you measurements of where mine are mounted, I would definitely use pop up cleats because they catch the rope if they are not pop ones. It only takes two holes to mount them, a no brainer

The measurements of where yours are mounted would be a big help.  I was looking at installing some like this:
http://www.attwoodmarine.com/Products/parts.asp?ProductID=950&path=marine&category=6>ype=1&group=1&subgroup=0&categoryname=Marine+Hardware&typename=Cleat&headername=Marine+Hardware
Just out of curiosity, did Toyota start putting cleats towards the rear of these boats after my '99?

I'm pretty sure that my dealer installed mine, which means I'm in for an unpleasant surprise when I measure from the bow eye to the cleats on each side. Not that the guy smokes a lot of dope, but it's enough. It's not critical where they are located, the cool stainless pop up ones are the ones you want. I couldn't follow the link, it's late and I'm tired. Put them where it makes sense to you, I.E. where you bump into the dock when you tie up.
