Bimini top
« on: May 10, 2004, 22:09:20 pm »
Hey everybody,

I'm new to the sight, but love my Epic 21 since summer of '99.  I'm thinking about putting a bimini on it since I now live in the south.  Who's the best to work with for a Toyota Epic 21?  We spend most of our time running the course with it, so it's got to hold up.

Thank,

Bill

I had the factory one, it is pretty stout and requires no straps. It's good to 35mph. I sold mine to Re-pete because I put the factory tower on. You can probably still get it from Toyota.

I have Pete's like-new 'old' bimini, and it is quite nice--well engineered and Sunbrella fabric.  There is also an on line dealer that sells them for toyotas with a variety of fabric qualities and colors--check out the other bimini thread on this site, or do a google search on bimini and toyota epic.  Good luck.

I went with a porch instead of a bimini. Boat width by ten feet. No floppiness or flutter at fifty on the trailer. Complete overkill.

Trampoline top is the way to go. Ask Pete, he'll tell ya.

But I don't think he has a tower, Derek. Without the tower, there's nothing to attach the trampoline onto.

I have the stock Sunbrella bimini, and it's actually pretty nice. Sits low above the windshield, but looks good. Very sturdy.  Mine even fits inside the tower (you just have to rock the tower forward to get it in place).

I saw somewhere that still has the Epic bimini when Googling a while ago. I just tried to find it again with no luck. But anyway, talk to Toyota. They can get you one.

Since we had so many movie quotes going last week, I thought I'd play along with one this week.

O'doyle rules is from Billy Madison -- the bunch of ugly punk redheaded kids that pick on Billy (and Chris Farley's character ends up killing with a banana).

Hee hee, funny.

All bimini places in business today can do a tower mount.

As far as the trampoline goes, look at the pictures in the Epicmarine pages (literature, etc.) If you like, get in contact with one of the prior dealers and get it ordered. Don't know the height of B-52s, but if Bose 151's fit under there, shouldn't yer bullets?

You can probably still get the factory tramp top if you have a factory tower. It is huge and heavy duty, worth every cent of the 600$ asking price. You can trailer the boat with it. You have to remove it to fold the tower, but it is 4 1/4-20 bolts. You could use wingnuts if desired. I can give you measurements if you want to know if your speakers will fit.
