Cleaning the Rub Rail
« on: August 28, 2009, 18:34:24 pm »
My red batwing cover has made my white rub rail pink in sections. Does anyone know of a good way to clean the rub rail? I've tried soap and water, mineral spirits, magic eraser with no luck.

When the majic eraser doesnt work I go to rubbing compound if that dont work I go to Ajax, if that dont work I go to the store and buy new rubrail.

I've used FSR on the hull and it works REALLY well for waterline stains. I've never used on non-glass, but you might try a small section and see what happens?

There is a better solution:
Replace it with another white
MRR0010853 RubRail,Soft,55FT,White 1  11  129.86  $100.00  $30.00
Better to use black :
MRR0010183 RubRail,Soft,55Ft,Black 1  10  145.13  $108.85  $30.00
MRR0010224 CoverPlate,RubRail,TransomJoint,Black 1  6  12.44  $9.33  $15.00

Try putting a little bit of gasoline on a rag... did great things for my white rubrail.
