Hi all,
Replaced my water pump impeller like a good boy a few weeks ago and forgot to tighten one of the hose clamps upon reinstall. Left the marina at idle, things seemed fine until I opened up the throttle to buzz over to my place. I notice smoke in the rear view mirror and shut it down immediately (it was near 240 degrees when I shut it down). I re-attached the hose and waited a few minutes to start it back up. Temp was fine after that, ran like it always did - didn't seem to be experiencing any ill effects. Whew.
Now, however, I have a hard time maintaining a given rpm for skiing. If I throttle up to 3k, it will accelerate to that speed but then suddenly surge up to 3.7k and 40 mph without having touched the throttle. If I'm trying to maintain 2450 rpms for wakeboarding I have to CONSTANTLY correct and re-correct to maintain speed.
Could I have scorched or otherwise "burnt" my fuel injectors or some other part of the fuel system when I overheated? Can't explain this, never acted this way until I overheated her.
