2010 Southeastern Epic RoundUp
« on: May 26, 2010, 23:02:42 pm »
Guys - we have water!

For those that recall, Lake Hartwell was 12 ft down in 2008 and I had trouble getting motivated for a roundup. Eventually the lake went about 22 ft down and I had trouble not committing suicide. However, the lake is 1.5 ft OVER full pool right now.

Let's get an early start this year in hopes of a great turnout. I think we still have the record of the most Epics together at one time but we can do better.

I am going to toss out the last week in July just to get folks thinking.

Of course I am in!  Please please make it a weekday!  That lake goes from heaven to trainwreck om Saturday!   By the way, after years of the super erratic non functional depth finder on my S22, I finally relocated it to the rear of the boat and it works perfect!  Wish I did that first!  It must have 20 feet of line to it!  Now I can finally say EVERYTHING on my boat works as it should!  I tend to focus on the little stuff, it drives me nuts!  Hope to see you all at the SE Roundup!

that should work. What are we thinking, get an island at hartwell for the day? camping? cookout? just got back from camping at paynes creek. Ron, thought about calling you and swinging by but the weekend got away from us avoiding the rain and keeping up with the younguns.

Whew - just got back from a long trip without a cellphone or access to email (6/6-today). Heaven and hell combined.

Les, anytime you are on Hartwell - just swing by, no need to call first.

Definitely an island for the day and a cookout. I am game for a multi-day event. Camping is available at Payne's Creek campground, on the island we used last time or folks are welcome to bunk down at our place. One of the reasons to kick this thing off early was to get ideas!

I can vouch for Paynes creek campground being nice and convenient to where Ramblins dock is, and the probable island site;) It has hookups and electricity, etc. I'm game for whatever;))

I tossed out the last week in July for starters. This seemed to be ok with folks - the main thing is to get a big turnout. The inevitable issue of weekday vs. weekend needs to be discussed. I happen to like weekdays as there is NO ONE here during the week. We will own the lake. Glassy water morning and evening with a few winds ripples mid-day. However, my schedulue is more flexible than some. I know Breakaway has to work weekends.

Ideas?

I am free the last week of July but I'll be coming from Memphis (have to go to nashville to pick up the boat) then down to Atlanta.  So I have a little of a drive and will have to arrange for a few days of vacation.  Perhaps if we did it on a Friday or a Monday it would be a little easier for out of towners to have a 3 day weekend vs having a few days off during the week...  just an idea but i am more flexible then most too

Anyone interested in getting some Epic Southeastern RoundUp t-shirts made?  I made alot of t-shirts for groups/fraternity I was apart of in college and shouldn't be more than 15 bucks a shirt.  It would be pretty awesome to "rock out" an Epic shirt while on the boat back in tennessee that has some meaning.  I could look up other ideas to, like boat key change or beer koozies -

Paynes Creek campground has limited availability the last week of July, but there are 2 spots together (sites 2 and 3) still available. I have stayed on 2 before. If anyone's game i'll reserve both for Friday and Sat night. I believe you can get  2 large tents on each site. lemme know if anyone is interested.
