WOT ?
« on: July 16, 2010, 05:18:45 am »
Tested my new to me SX 22,   boat does not reach full rpm  (5400 rpm at WOT)?  Checked the throttle linkage and with it wide open there still is around a 1/4 travel remaining on the throttle opening ?  Boat has accuski, is this possibly why the boat would only rev to 5400 rpm ?  Any ideas how to adjust the accuki linkage/setup to get full throttle with the boat.

thanks for any help

Its probably the prop or altitude of the lake, both could affect the WOT...

Prop is stainless 4 blade  (stock on the SX) and elevation of the lake is 3700 feet.

thanks for any help, boat does not seem to have the same punch as the E21 I had before but it sure is smooth and quiet.  But it needs more power

Just installed new plugs as well ?  Any other ideas ? Just seems a little lazy compared to the E21.  I can not remember on the E21 if the full range of the the throttle was used up or not ?

The S22 will never, ever, feel as responsive as an E21.  It is a completely different boat.  I have had both and a open bow Vdrive is going to respond very differently than a smaller, closed bow direct drive.  You need to check your prop diameter and pitch.  What you pick up in launch you will lack in top speed.  You are comparing a sports car to a sport utility. No contest in accelleration and handling.  The S22 is no slouch, its a great boat, unless you had a S21 before it. :(

I have an aftermarket OJ Stainless 13x13 4-blade on my S22. I get about the same WOT 4,300 RPM and up to 43 mph (with lots of porpoising above 35 mph even with 110 lbs ballast under the bow cushions.)

Would be nice to get a 13x11.5 ACME to be more properly propped at wakeboard speeds - and maybe get those missing 600 rpms back.

Check your prop and your transmission label. We can bounce the label against mine to verify you're at the same ratio. For some reason I think the SX and X22 may have lower gear ratio.

ratio is different on the SX 1.46:1 IIRC.   Just put 50 hours on the boat over the last three weeks of vacation.  The SX worked flawless, with the exception of a pretty limited top speed  (around 37 MPH at 5700 RPM).  Boat is much smoother in rougher water than the EPIC 21, also need to replace prop shaft packing as the water poured in from the prop shaft the whole time, was a good thing that I replaced the billage pump  before we left as preventative maintenance

any tip on how to unscrew the lock nut on the packing I can not get it to budge by hand<
