Be sure your gas tank is full to keep out condensation and that it has stabilizer in it to keep your fuel fresh.

Loosen your alternator belt and raw water pump belt so they are in a relaxed position.

Remove your impeller from the raw water pump and keep it in a seal tight bag.

Rotate your steering wheel from lock-to-lock position two or three times a month to keep cable lubricated and to help eliminate condensation problems.

Disconnect and store your battery according to manufacturer's instructions.

Check your boat for any unwanted house guests nesting.

Call Discount Inboard Marine for all your parts and your troubleshooting needs.

"Long periods of storage can adversely affect the internal parts of the engine and fuel system unless proper methods of preservation are used."

Please be sure to WINTERIZE...

Steps to getting on the water quicker next season:
1. Change engine and transmission oil.
Keep tank full to avoid condensation.
Run engine long enough so stabilizer goes through fuel system.

2. Add stabilizer and change fuel filter.

3. Fog cylinders using spray fogging oil.
Spray directly into carb or throttle body (TBI).
Or, if Multi-Port EFI (Dry Intake), spray directly into each cylinder through the spark plug hole.

4. Remove all drain plugs.  2 in the block, 1 in the thermostat elbow on PCM Engines, 1 in each exhaust manifold and 1 in the transmission cooler.

5. Flush exhaust manifolds.

Be sure to use a non-toxic, bio-degradable, polypropylene anti-freeze only!

6. Re-install required drain plugs.

7. Administer anti-freeze.

8. Remove raw water pump and impeller.

Note: Do not leave anti-freeze in raw water strainer bowl.
If you have fresh water cooling, make sure your anti-freeze in the cooling tank is sufficient and the heat exchanger along with all hoses are drained of raw water!

Spark plugs??? I looked into replacing plugs that I could get from a toyota parts dept to find that the car plug does not have a i at the end of the number like the marine plug does?? Does that matter?? What plugs would you suggest to run??
Thanks

any good plug will do. a platinum or iridium plug. ngk, denso, bosch. ive been running bosch platinum plus for 3 years now and great so far. gonna change them out next season and was thinking of giving the E3 diamond fire plugs a shot. i just get the plugs for a ls/gs 400 vvt car engine.

Each year I worry during the winter due to our extreme winter temperatures about the winterizing job I did on the X22. This year I followed the winterizing procedures as I always do and removed the thermostat. Then I turned up the water intake hose after removing it from the bottom of the boat and attached a large funnel to it. Started the boat and filled it up with a couple of gallons of plumbers antifreeze. I do this in case some water remains hoping the antifreeze will either displace or mix sufficiently with the remaining water to avoid freezing / breaking.

I then repeated the winterizing procedure again draining all the antifreeze but this time while all plugs and ports were open, I held my shop vac up to the engine block where the thermostat was and it covered the hole in the block entirely. I then reversed the hose on the vacuum to blow pushing a high volume but low pressure air through the engine block. I was surprised how much moisture still came out the drain ports. I am already relaxed thinking about winter this year... just too bad we have to think about winter this early here in Alberta. In the last few days we have had some beautiful weather, but the first 4 weeks of September were cold and wet this year.

The local wakeboarding is best around SoCal in the winter. No problem riding over Christmas. Lots 'o butter nearby.
