Do the tower-up moorage covers allow for in water use?
« on: May 25, 2011, 16:56:39 pm »
I just got my SX22 earlier this week. Unfortunately it only came with a tower down style of cover. It doesn't appear to be able to be used for on water moorage as it has a bunch of tie down straps that go to the trailer.

Do the tower up sunbrella covers that are available from Capt Rick allow for use when the boat is left in the water?

There are no tower up covers for sx ,only tower down. You can use water bottle to hold cover down but would be a easier on a trailer. or on a lift.

If you are planning on mooring, I would highly recommend you check your shaft packing for the proper drip rate or keep your bilge on auto....

Call http://www.seattlewatersports.com/ last time I was there they had a half dozen OEM covers still in stock.  I had a no-tower cover modified to work with my Samson tower.

I'll give them a call tomorrow. What did your modifications cost you? Does the cover fit tight enough that you can leave it without the trailer tie downs?

I wish I could get a ranklin cover as it appears to be the best option for in water moorage. Unfortunately Ranklin is no longer in business.

I talked to www.evolutioncovers.com. They can make a rankin style cover for our Epics for $815. This cover comes with a 10 year warranty and requires no poles to support it and can be trailered. Unforunately he does not have a template for a SX.

Is anyone in the seattle area with an SX22 or S22 w/ tower willing to let him come measure your boat? He said a template will take him about half an hour to create.

If there's a few of us interested in purchasing all at once, he might be willing to give a bit of a discount.

I have a tower up OEM cover that I have never used if you're interested.  Since I have a snap-on cover for trailering and I garage my 2002 SX otherwise, it is just bundled up on my shelf and probably should go to someone who could use it.

Mods weren't cheap, in the $300 range.  It fits tight enough for travel without the straps, but it needs a support pole to keep the water from pooling

I have a cover on my boat right now that was built by evolution cover's and the thing is killer the only problem is its built for a S or SX and my boat is a E. The window on an S/SX is like 5-6 inches aft of an E...which mine is, so he is going to make me a new one the thing is brand new Im sure he would love to sell it. If you would like picks I can send them.
